Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Passat?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you have room to shop but still need to move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 57 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.57% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,288 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Passat's resale value?

The current average of $12,368 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,825 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a mixed signal for future resale: it may help you buy at a more attractive entry point now, but it also means you should be realistic about how much value the car may hold if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, buying well below the current average gives you a better cushion against depreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Passat or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness, the 2017 is the one to focus on. If you're especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2017's stronger deal availability and owner feedback.
