How much does the 2017 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 18.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 173 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice in the used market.

Is the 2017 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the safety features, spacious interior, comfortable ride, and AWD capability, and those strengths line up well with the Outback’s practical, roomy crossover layout. If you want a vehicle that suits family use, all-weather driving, and everyday comfort, this model year fits that brief well. With 26.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still a meaningful share of attractive inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability alongside the Outback’s safety and all-weather capability, which suggests many drivers feel confident depending on it over time. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history, because long-term ownership risk is always lower when the vehicle has been consistently serviced.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 173 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.26% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,940 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $13,952 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,069 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Outback more affordable to buy now but also means future resale gains may be more limited if prices stay soft. For a seller, the current trend points to a value curve that is under pressure rather than rising. Even so, the model’s broad appeal helps support demand among used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a smart primary choice if you want a roomy, comfortable, all-weather used vehicle with strong owner approval and a softer price than it had a year ago. If your priority is stretching your budget, this is also a good year to watch closely for well-priced examples, especially if you can find one near the low end of the current range.
