Is the 2017 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers describing the Soul as a good-value vehicle that delivers a comfortable ride and good fuel economy over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and still feels fresh inside.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 126 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.75% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,285 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $10,815 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,836 CAD.

That price movement suggests the 2017 Soul has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now and planning to sell later. If the market stays steady, a lower entry price today can reduce the amount of value you lose over your ownership period. The Soul’s broad appeal as a practical, distinctive small vehicle should also help keep it relevant with used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Kia Soul is the better pick if you want a well-liked, practical, and value-oriented used hatchback with a strong mix of space and personality. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples, especially those near the lower end of the current range.
