Still, the model’s premium feel and practical cabin help support interest from shoppers who want a compact SUV with a more polished character. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the Tiguan’s more premium driving feel, quality-focused cabin, and current pricing advantage. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2016 is the better path when you want a balance of value and owner satisfaction.
