Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.23% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

If you want a practical, all-weather compact SUV with strong owner approval, the 2016 is a sensible choice. It makes the most sense if you value space, visibility, and winter confidence, and you’re willing to shop carefully for a well-maintained example. If price is your top priority, a nearby year with lower average pricing may be worth considering, but the 2016 remains a strong pick for buyers who want a balanced mix of usability and demand.
