Is the 2016 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Nissan Altima earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which lines up with its appeal as a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan. The overview points to a car that prioritises style, everyday comfort, and practicality, while user feedback repeatedly highlights great gas mileage, sleek design, comfort, and strong value for the price. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a roomy, easygoing sedan rather than something tuned for driving excitement. With 21.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a car many owners find dependable in day-to-day use, with praise for its comfort, value, and fuel economy. At the same time, the transmission is a recurring concern in owner comments, so reliability confidence depends heavily on the specific vehicle’s history and maintenance record. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable only if you shop carefully and verify the car has been well maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 21.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 97 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,131 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $9,732 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,054 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future buyers but may limit upside for a seller. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. The current market also shows that demand is still present, but buyers have become more price sensitive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 21.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a good pick if you want a comfortable, well-equipped Altima at a more approachable price than newer examples. If your priority is stretching your budget, this year makes sense; if you want to compare for the best mix of value and condition, you should also look at nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than the cheapest one.
