Is the 2016 Nissan Altima a good car?

Generally — the 4.47/5 user rating suggests you can feel reasonably confident shopping this model year. Drivers consistently praise its great gas mileage, sleek design, comfort, and overall value for the price. That lines up well with the Altima’s role as a midsize sedan that aims to balance style, comfort, and value for everyday use. With 24.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to find a strong example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that many owners find dependable in daily use, with strong praise for comfort, efficiency, and value. At the same time, the CVT transmission is a recurring concern, and some owners report issues that affect confidence over time. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term ownership risk is making sure the transmission has been well maintained and that the specific car you choose has a clean service history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every good car to sit around for long.

• Deal availability: 24.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 107 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,144 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $9,547 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,301 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but less rewarding to sell later if values continue to soften. For a future seller, the main takeaway is that this model year is not currently showing strong appreciation potential, so condition, mileage, and maintenance history will matter a lot when it comes time to list it. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Altima makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, efficient midsize sedan with a more polished look and you’re shopping for value in today’s used market. If you’re price-sensitive, this year is worth a close look because the market has softened and there are still a fair number of listings to compare. If you want the strongest possible long-term value story, you may also want to compare nearby years before deciding.
