Is the 2016 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Kia Sorento earns a 4.64/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its reliability, performance, smooth ride, handling, and good fuel efficiency, and many also like the range of features it offers. For you, that makes it a sensible choice if you want a family SUV with a more substantial cabin, available three-row seating, and everyday usability without moving into luxury pricing. With 17.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.64/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, along with a trouble-free feel that many shoppers want in a used SUV. That kind of reputation matters if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long term, because it suggests lower ownership stress and better confidence in day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s overall reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained properly over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 17.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 230 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.34% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,356 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $11,356 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,573 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be helpful if you're buying now but less favourable if you're planning to sell soon. If you own one, the softer pricing means your resale value may not rebound quickly unless demand tightens. On the other hand, the model's broad appeal and practical family-SUV layout should help it remain relevant to used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 17.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong pick if you want a more mature, well-equipped Sorento with solid owner approval and a market that has become more buyer-friendly. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but the 2016 is the better all-round choice if you want the stronger blend of features, space, and owner satisfaction.
