This looks like a moderate buyer's market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

If you find a listing below $11,570 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport's resale value?

The current average of $11,598 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,464 CAD.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you're buying now and want to limit near-term value loss. For a future seller, it also means resale performance will likely depend more on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained than on broad market momentum alone. Because the current market still shows active demand, a clean example should remain reasonably sellable.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used Santa Fe Sport with strong owner satisfaction and a market that currently favours shoppers, the 2016 is a sensible primary choice. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, price, and equipment.
