That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Stronger-condition examples with desirable equipment should be easier to move when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a sensible choice if you want a used Santa Fe Sport with a favourable price trend and a decent share of attractive listings. If you're especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on the lower end of the range and compare condition carefully, since the best value will usually come from the cleanest example at the right price.
