The user feedback highlights reliability, and drivers also describe it as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use. Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Elantra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 298 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $8,671 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $8,809 CAD sits slightly below last year's $9,618 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy now, you may be entering at a lower point in the cycle than owners did a year ago. The Elantra’s value proposition is still supported by its practical appeal, which can help keep demand steady when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $10,241 CAD, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,809 CAD average.
• It brings a sharper redesign with more technology and a fresher look.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the better value and are focused on comfort, efficiency, and everyday practicality. If you are willing to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and a more modern design, the 2017 is the stronger upgrade; if price matters most, the 2016 is the smarter buy.
