How much does the 2016 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Prices have softened 10.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and excellent fuel economy, and many also like its smooth ride and attractive design. That fits well if you want a sensible compact sedan that balances value and everyday practicality. With 25.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a fair chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability as a strength, alongside comfort and fuel economy, which is encouraging if you want a used car you can count on. Even so, you should still pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition, because used-car reliability risk always depends on how the previous owner treated the vehicle.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 312 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $8,667 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $8,669 CAD sits slightly below last year's $9,647 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you plan to own it for a while, the current pricing gives you a lower entry point than last year’s market. If you sell later, your return will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $10,233 CAD, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,669 CAD average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with stronger technology and a more polished feel.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2016 if you want the lower purchase price and a solid satisfaction record. If you can stretch your budget, the 2017 is the better pick for shoppers who want the newer redesign and are willing to pay more for it. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2016 remains the smarter value play.
