Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a well-liked truck. Owners commonly praise its great value, reliability, comfortable features, good gas mileage, and stable road manners. That lines up well if you want a full-size pickup that can work hard while still offering useful technology and everyday comfort. Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a truck that many drivers feel comfortable counting on over time. At the same time, some owners mention concerns tied to the Chevy Shake issue, so used buyers should pay close attention to service records and how the truck drives on a test route. For long-term ownership, condition and maintenance history matter a lot with this model year.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 286 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,417 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $19,814 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,997 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re a future seller, the softer pricing trend means you’ll want to protect value with strong maintenance records and a clean presentation. Trucks that are well cared for tend to hold buyer interest better when the market is more selective.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Silverado 1500 makes sense if you want a full-size pickup with useful technology, broad configuration choices, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you’re price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
