Why it stands out
The 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan stands out as a compact SUV that aimed for a more premium, more engaging feel than many of its rivals. It was conceived with a smooth and responsive drive in mind, and front-wheel drive was the default drivetrain layout on the base Trendline trim, with 4Motion all-wheel drive available on that trim and standard on the Comfortline and Highline trim levels. Power came from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, which gave it punchy performance, though fuel economy was not one of its strengths.
It also brought a quality-focused cabin and a useful mix of updates by this point in its life. The 2012 model year brought updated styling with a much sleeker front end, along with equipment upgrades, and the 2013 model year added an R-Line package with a sportier look thanks to additional side skirts, a rear spoiler, and extended wheel arches. A Wolfsburg trim level joined the line-up for the final model year in 2017. Even so, the Tiguan’s reputation for reliability was not especially strong, with engine, cooling system, and electrical problems noted, so a careful test drive matters when shopping for one.

The VW Tiguan is a great car so far. Perfect of my family of three.

I felt like this car was just a car and really lacked from not having all of the features listed in its description. This car does drive well. It has great acceleration and a very smooth ride. I felt it was spacious enough for my needs. It did have a backup camera but that seemed to be its only noteable feature. If you need a great set of wheels that take you to your destination than this will suffice. If your life requires other creature comforts, this might not be the best option.

Though it could use a backup camera, it’s a great value for the price.

2015 Volkswagen Tiguan Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,365 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $10,149 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $12,122 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,114 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −14.44% |
Prices have softened 14.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 164 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?
Generally — the 4/5 user rating points to a model that many shoppers find appealing, especially if you want a compact SUV with a more premium, more engaging feel than many rivals. The Tiguan was designed around a smooth, responsive drive, and its quality-focused cabin and useful mix of updates help it stand out if you value driving feel and interior presentation. Its fuel economy was not one of its strengths, so it suits you best if comfort and performance matter more than efficiency. 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Tiguan’s reliability reputation was not especially strong, with engine, cooling system, and electrical problems noted. That means you should put extra weight on maintenance records and a thorough inspection before you commit. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a vehicle that needs more repair attention than its appealing driving character might suggest.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 164 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.44% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $10,149 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?
The current average of $10,365 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,114 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face more competition if prices stay under pressure. If you buy now, your resale outlook will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. A well-kept example should still attract interest, but you should not expect a strong short-term appreciation story.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.44% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2015 Tiguan makes sense if you want a compact SUV with a more premium feel, a responsive drive, and a cabin that feels a step up from many rivals. If you are price-sensitive, the softer market and decent deal availability make this a good year to target, but you should still prioritise condition and service history because reliability concerns are part of the ownership picture.
