Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Sorento stands out as the last year of the second-generation model, and it benefits from the redesign that gave this Sorento a more distinctive look and better road manners than the original. Kia’s switch to unibody construction helped improve comfort and handling, while the available third row added extra versatility, even if the rear-most seats were only suitable for smaller passengers. It also offered a broad spread of features for the money, including heated front seats in Canada, which was unusual at the time.
Mechanically, the 2015 Sorento was defined by its 175-hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and available 3.5-litre V6 with 276 hp. Front-wheel drive was standard and all-wheel drive was optional, and the base trim used a six-speed manual transmission while the others had an automatic. The V6 was the quicker choice, but the four-cylinder was the less convincing option, and the fuel-consumption figures were not especially frugal. Buyers also had to keep recall history in mind, since early Sorentos were affected by fire-related issues, and this generation in particular had additional recall concerns.
Even so, the 2015 Sorento has appeal as a practical used SUV. It offers a roomy cabin, a smoother ride than the first generation, and enough equipment to feel well appointed for its era. For shoppers who want a midsize SUV with useful space and a strong feature set at a lower used price, it remains an interesting choice, provided the vehicle’s recall work has been completed and its condition is sound.

Great car, has most features . The only one I wish it had that is not there is electric seats. Other than that I’m very satisfied.

So far, I am satisfied with the Sorento. Was also ,looking at the Dodge Journey, and decided on Sorento. Is quiet, takes hills nicely, especially like hil- assist. Only drawback is some features advertised were missing,i.e. prower heated side mirrors and auto daytime running lights. Otherwise, felt I got a good value.

2015 Kia Sorento Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2015 Kia Sorento prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2015 Kia Sorento cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $9,506 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $9,479 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $11,543 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $10,785 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.85% |
Prices have softened 11.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 185 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory for shoppers comparing condition and price.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Kia Sorento earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance, and those strengths line up well with its role as a practical midsize SUV with useful space and a broad feature set for the money. If you want a family-friendly used SUV with a roomy cabin and everyday comfort, this model year fits that brief well, and 16.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2015 Kia Sorento reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also highlights reliable performance, along with a generally positive ownership experience over time. For used buyers, that suggests the bigger risk is less about day-to-day dependability and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly and had any recall work completed.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sorento?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 16.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 185 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.85% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $9,479 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Sorento's resale value?
The current average of $9,506 CAD sits slightly below last year's $10,785 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Sorento easier to buy now but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to own it for a while, the current price level gives you a lower entry point, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 16.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.85% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2015 is a sensible choice if you want a practical midsize SUV with a roomy cabin, a smooth ride, and strong owner approval at a lower used price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years as well, but the 2015 remains a solid target when you find one with good history and the right condition.
