Despite the upgrades, the Terrain's interior materials and execution did not fully meet expectations for its price range, with some design choices, like the pushbutton transmission controls, being less intuitive.

In contrast, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE received subtle exterior updates that were not immediately noticeable. The GLE 450e test vehicle, finished in Twilight Blue metallic with 21-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, exuded a sophisticated presence. The interior, featuring Macchiato beige and black leather upholstery with natural grain brown walnut trim, was luxurious and offered a range of customization options. The GLE's cabin was one of the highest quality in its segment, providing a robust and elegant environment for occupants.

The 2022 GMC Terrain was powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. While the engine's power delivery required some adaptation, the nine-speed automatic transmission helped maintain the vehicle within its torque band. The Terrain's towing capacity was limited to 680 kilograms, a reduction from the previous 2.0-litre engine's capability. The AT4 model offered FWD and AWD modes, with additional Off-Road and Hill Descent Control systems. However, the Terrain's off-road performance was limited by its ground clearance and tire grip. Fuel economy was rated at 9.6 L/100 km city, 8.3 highway, and 9.0 combined with AWD.

The GLE's steering was precise, making it easy to maneuver despite its size.

The AT4 trim featured perforated leather upholstery with caramel-colour contrast stitching. The rear seat provided ample legroom and comfort, with a rear USB charging port. Cargo space measured 838 litres behind the second row, expanding to 1,792 litres with the rear seat folded. The Terrain also included various storage solutions throughout the cabin.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE provided generous headroom and legroom in both the first and second rows, with a light and airy cabin feel. The GLE 450e featured power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a power liftgate. Cargo space was 630 litres behind the second row, with the option for a third-row seat in certain trims. The GLE's interior was equipped with numerous comfort features, including a Burmester surround-sound audio system, ventilated front seats, and a range of advanced technology options.
