The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe offered a diverse range of trims, each with distinct styling elements that set them apart. The Tahoe's design was dominated by its grille, with standard LED headlights and expressive taillights enhancing its look. Despite its familiar design themes, the new Tahoe appeared more slab-sided, with larger wheels improving its overall appearance.

Inside, the Tahoe's interior was centred around a 10.2-inch infotainment screen and new electronic transmission controls, which improved storage capacity but compromised control layout. The Tahoe LS featured cloth seats, while leather became standard from the LT trim onwards. The Premier trim added perforated leather, and the High Country offered textured leather options. The Z71 trim we tested met quality expectations, with exposed stitching and soft-touch surfaces in the upper cabin, while the lower half was covered in hard plastic. Prices for the Tahoe ranged from $57,048 for the LS with rear-wheel drive to $81,448 for the High Country with 4-wheel drive. Our test vehicle, a Z71, included numerous option packages, bringing the total price to $80,293.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue continued its evolution with a mature design, drawing inspiration from other Nissan models like the Pathfinder. The 9-inch infotainment display was positioned for easy visibility, and the instrument panel varied from a 7-inch display to a 12.3-inch digital screen in upper trims.

The Rogue's Zero Gravity front seats provided comfort, and the roomy second row offered good legroom. Fit and finish were exemplary, especially in the top-of-the-line Platinum model. The Rogue's interior was designed with practicality in mind, offering numerous storage options for both front and rear passengers. The cargo area was generous, with up to 1,033 litres of space, expandable to 2,098 litres with the second row folded. The Rogue's design and functionality made it a strong contender in the compact crossover segment.

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe offered three engine options, with the standard 5.3-litre V8 delivering 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The High Country trim featured an exclusive 6.2-litre V8, producing 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. A turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel engine, available for most trims except the Z71, provided 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, with improved fuel efficiency. The Tahoe's 10-speed automatic transmission powered the rear wheels, with 4WD optional on base trims and standard on others. The Z71 trim included a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, and all-terrain tires. The Tahoe could tow up to 3,810 kilograms and handle 831 kilograms of payload. The major engineering change was the adoption of an independent rear suspension, improving ride quality and interior comfort. The Z71 impressed with its smooth ride, thanks to adaptive damping and air suspension upgrades. The 5.3-litre V8 and 10-speed transmission provided ample power, with Dynamic Fuel Management technology enhancing fuel efficiency. The Tahoe's handling was commendable, with suspension upgrades controlling body roll and motion.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue received a performance boost with its new 1.5-litre VC-Turbo engine, producing 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. This engine offered an 11% increase in horsepower and 24% more torque compared to the previous model. The VC-Turbo concept allowed for variable compression, optimizing power and efficiency. The second row could be configured with a bench seat or captain’s chairs, with the latter providing comfort and easy access to the third row. The third-row seat room was significantly improved, accommodating adults comfortably. The Tahoe offered 722 litres of cargo space behind the rear seat, expandable to 2,056 litres with the seat folded, and a maximum of 3,480 litres.
