rlly good car! 1,6 diesel engine. the engine is bulletproof.. The bad thing, is that it's
slow.. but over all it's a really reliable car!! It's fun to drive and most important that

This car is indeed a little pocket rocket. It does 0-60 mph under 8 seconds. It is my only car at this time. I am busy making some changes as I'm going along. Some changes I made are: Sound system, Sports steering, custom paintjob on rims, interior bits & many more.Jan 02, 2012

it's very fast car with 16v 2.0 litre and sytheme brak of vw mk 2 with 4 aumortiseur of gaz and very low for great handlin,i build that car and no need to any parts , the interior with leather seets original and with very good paint and chassis no rust :P she cost me a lot 14000$ and im so happy having that car , so fun when i drived ;)Oct 18, 2011

the gti is just the iconic hot hatch.....simple...
it still turns heads even now,the handling is also still up there
with the greats ....not quick by modern cars stds but the handling

well what can i say its a vw,great build quality,great looks,reliable enginesand loads of style and even with the little 1.6 8v in it its fairly nippy and also cheap to insure even for a new driver so its definetely a winning carMay 13, 2011

- performance : V-Good acceleration, Good braking but no ABS , handling not so good because it is too light 780KGs
- Build Quality : Because it old car it's need some of car
-Appearance : Interior stock is good but they are making it perfect when modding it
Exterior stock in good but when it's modded its the best
its dont take to much gas

i hate this car, it's my nemesis and somthing is always broken
or need TLC. i bought it very cheep, mostly for
transportation, and after all i still love this old piece of crap :)
besides the oil leeking, the contactbreaker ignition always

It's 25 years old and still runs like a beast. Has more street cred than your mums punto/corsa. Turns heads wherever it goes. Simple to work on and fix. So many parts available. Is part of one of the biggest driving scenes worldwide!Sep 20, 2009

I drove it from 26th october 1995 to 16th march 2000.
It was a real TRAKTOR (Diesel you know). We had a lot of fun over more than 120.000 km together, especially while driving to festivals in Sweden (from Germany of course). Screwdrivers were always on board, so it was easy to turn the backseats into a double bed (provided that the trunk was empty).
Once I crashed into a guardrail on the Autobahn and once into a VW Polo. But everything went fine. Just small damages on the car (the bumper was truly a REAL bumper) and no injuries on me at all ;o)
If that lovely car wouldn't have become too old (275.000 km in the end) I think I would still drive it ;o)Aug 15, 2009

What can we say about the mk2 Golf? Well its certainly the best GTI out of all the Golfs over the years, but as a standard Golf i think its hard to cut above the mk1! Its a bigger car, and its looks are great. Big or small bumpers there a little variation there if your not keen on which to go for, i prefer the big bumpers :)Aug 11, 2009

ok performance could have been better but what could you expect from a 14 year old car. build quality was good hardly ever needed repairing(until i smashed the damn thing) appearance-1982 golf gls need i say more! cost of wnership-very light on fuel and like i said earlier hardly ever needed reparing. Bought this as a stop gap, a friends mum was selling it cheap, I needed a car........
Wasnt too bad, very slow but very well built. I put a "GTi" style grille on it (with the driving lamps) which made it look better.
While I was parked outside the pub, a dealer left a note on it offering me £300 more than I paid for it, so off it went!Mar 29, 2009

Typical VW over engineered and built to last. Was old when I owned it so break down were frequent. Added the GTI grill to the front but unfortunately it didn't improve the performance or the handling! Used to roll into the corners like it was suspended by huge vats of treacle.Feb 03, 2009

I hated it, a rust bucket. The overhead gasget blew and then the gearbox completely failed. Only had it for 6 months it was utter pants. The only good thing about it was the stereo I put in it a pioneer head with amp and alpine speakers, gorgeous sound.Dec 30, 2008

wel my car isnt the best lookin bt thats goin 2 changeperformance wise is quite gud bt cn do better.interior nt gud had 2 nice bucket seats and i had an xtc audio sound system.wel gas mileage was very gud and maintenaace was abit rough.the car rocks 2 drive when i put my foot flat on the gas the power runs wild and the brakin system wasnt badSep 20, 2008

It was a shonker, but it flew! Ultramarine Blue GLS 1600cc. Transverse gearbox. the shock and suspension are in dire need of replacing too, but that never happened :o( Got a ton tewn out of the old fella on the by-pass before the HEDGE of doom appeared and took my little brum brum awayAug 07, 2008

-bit of a cliche. I actually remember the Alfa Romeo Alfasud being around before this car, but the GTI is what really kicked it all off.
110hp was a lot at the time, especially for a car this light. The gearbox was perfectly tuned to the peaky engine and it handled superbly thanks to stock Bilstein shocks and front/rear anti-roll bars (nowadays a common feature). Fuel injection was pretty new in the UK when this came out and there weren't many other cars you could get on 3 wheels in a corner.

Despite it's lack of speed and braking power, even with sloppy old suspension, you can really throw it round corners. It is so much fun blipping the throttle through the gears hearing that little carby 1600 sing. Being such a cheeky little car, people let you zip through traffic squeezing into gaps no other cars can. When you have people approach you in car parks and tell you about one they used to own (usually older people), how much they loved it and how they regret getting rid of it, you realise that owning an old VW really is something special. Paid £40 at auction for it.
Rumbling wheel beaering that refused to come out to be replaced..so it was left.
Passenger window did`nt work,inspected problem only to find a nice branch holding the window up.
