Quite fun carving traffic with this rusty little dork-mobile, other cars took a look at it and feared the disposable 'scort. Handy hatch and folding rear seats proved useful for hauling cargo. The lack of an armrest is inexcusable for any four-wheeled conveyance, in my humble opinion, and the motorized mouse belt on the driver's side was off track. Still, as reliable as the sunrise, and eve replacing the timing belt was a snap (if not the axle).Jul 28, 2011

I bought this car in June 2010 for £475, it was on sale for £650. It came with a full leather interior, upgraded dashboard and steering column, Escort Cosworth Body Kit compromising of a vented bonnet, grill, front and rear wheel arch extentions, side skirts, rear spoiler but a custom mk6 rear bumper and mk5 front bumper, Drilled and Grooved Brake Disks and upgraded brake pads, Full Stainless Steel Exhaust from the Cat back, Engine upgrade from a standard 1.3 to a 1.8 mondeo lump, Upgraded Gearbox, 17 inch TSW EVO R Alloy wheels complete with low profile tyres and a Cat 1 thatchem Alarm and immobiliser. Performance was ok, the only problem was the stupid wanker that used to own it, he completely used and abused this car in a way that a car should never be treated, he messed up all the wiring and basically didnt look after the car and due to the ignorance and stupidity of his work i was forced to scrap the shell. I did however keep the complete kit, the interior, alloys and other little bits and pieces before she was taken away. Apperance was deceptive, the car was solid to look at and solid to touch as the previous owner had made well sure that anyone coming to view/buy the car was unable to know about the rust that was lurking underneath the kit and all the thick underseal type stuff. He is a complete pilock and doesnt deserve to own a car if this is how he thinks they should be looked after and maintained! This car was however, sooo fun to drive its unbelievable for what it had been through. Since having this car, little things with the electrics started to fail or not work properly so upon trying to sort the problems out, finally then the headlights, side lights rear lights and brakelights stopped working and i was forced to take it off the road, i then realised i needed an entire wiring loom(which i still have) and when the old wiring loom was being removed thats when we realised our fears! A hell of alot of filler was found to be covering a hell of alot of rust and rotten floor panels, inner and outer sills, which was not worth repairing and i didnt have the experience in welding at all so eventually i decided for safety reasons that the car was best scrapped. Min første bil :D Kjøpt for 7500kr av gubben over gata. Grå/grønn farge me 1.6l injection motor på 115hk Den bilen fikk kjørt sæ på beisfjordveien til den store gull medaljen. D va vel igrunn der den til slutt åsså døde.. på julaften. hehe.. :P Go bil i utgangspunktet. Morsom, lett å kjøre å lett å få go lyd i :) PS. First Car I ever bought, '91 Escort LX (Even if the one in the stock picture is a GT model) Never thought I wanted to own a hatchback, but it was a beautiful car, drove nice, Handled well. They were built for rally, so it took dirt roads well. Bought the car with 400,00kms on it, and it still ran beauty... never had any major problems with it either. probably should have kept her on the road. still starts better than most the cars out there I see ;)Sep 02, 2008

This was my first "new" car, with only 50,000 mi. The second week I bought it, drove to Louisiana. Drove it a couple more times to LA before it kicked. I worked as a film runner, driving the car up and down a mountain all day. I ran it into a ditch and it never stopped running. I drove it to and from college, over two hours away, several times. In 2002 it was starting to show its age. If I let it sit for more than a day the battery would die. It needed over $4000 of front end work, and there was some loud clicking sound in the motor by early 2003. The last day I drove it, I had to jump it off at the dealership, jump it again to swap the radios, and again to get back to the dealership. There are days I really miss that car.May 28, 2008

This is a great small car for anyone who needs a car that gets from point A to B and is easy at the pump. The car is lacking in the power department with only 88hp in it's 1.9L inline 4. However the car can go from a stop quickly with the 5 speed manuel transmission and once up to 55 it can hold its own. For the most part it handles well but lacks anti-lock brakes which can cause control problems in panic stops. Also the car is a little square in the appearance department inside and out and the lacking of airbags is a little scarey. It seats 4 but only 2 adults comfotablely. Overall its a great car for a daily driver with good gas milage but it's a little outdated. Mar 18, 2008

This car had few frills but lots of features, unlike any American made car I ever owned, this one started every time I turned the key. The back lifted during hard cornering, but it got great gas mileage, fit into tiny parking spaces, had room for four and never leaked! 1.9 liter engine gave it peppy acceleration, big fat tires made it stop quickly and evenly and the A/C and radio were just great.Mar 10, 2008

It was a decent car. It was somewhat sporty and quick, It drove fast and handled alright. But in the end it was just an Escort with a little more polish. All the sporty look made maintenance expensive and tires were high. It required specialized parts that were 3X the cost of the standard escort. Not a bad car but just didn't have the power,speed, comfort, to offset the high maintenance and price. Feb 07, 2008

Ford redesigned the Escort with Mazda (the counterpart is, I believe, a 323) in 1991, and gave the GT model a real engine, a high-revving 1.6-liter 16-valve twin-cam four that had 127 horsepower (17 more than the standard 1.8-liter four) coupled with a five-speed. The result was a car that performed better than any Escort to that point, although, like most four-valve-per-cylinder engines, finding the horsepower required standing on the gas. The two-door Escort was an exceptionally well designed car for the money. Seating was comfortable for even tall people in the front, with very nice six-way buckets. An upgraded suspension and aluminum wheels on Goodyear GT+4 radials were included, as were a front and rear spoiler and the most useless fog lights you've ever seen. For a small two-door car, it also had a decent amount of carrying capacity, with fold-down rear seats and a hatchback. Mar 21, 2007
