Should I buy a used Mazda MAZDA3 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2024 model is at −8.51% versus a year ago, and the 2023 model is at −11.73%.
- Deal availability: The 2024 model has 32.4% good and great deals.

Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The 2026 Mazda3 is offered with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder that produces 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo engine increases output to 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular unleaded fuel and 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium.
- Tech: Higher-trimmed models get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad.
- Safety: The top GT model adds adaptive headlights, a head-up display, lane centring, a surround-view camera system, and reverse automatic braking.
- Starting price: The 2026 Mazda3 sedan has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $28,346 CAD for the base GX trim.
If you're buying used today, the 2015 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Exceptional driving experience. The most balanced, precision crafted steering wheel system of any cars I have ever owned (25 of them). Drives better than most acclaimed German machines out there.Mazda cars are very enjoyable to drive, yet these models are ones of the most underrated and undervalued vehicles yet. Amazing Mazda vehicles. They're excellent values, but folks have to give Mazda cars chances. Drive one. The issues I have with the current models are: 1). There's no 6 Speed Manual with the 2.5 Turbo AWD Premium Plus trim models. 2). Please, bring CD ( Compact Disc) entertainment back in all Mazdas. 3). Add colors to the interior design. It's too bland, monotonous, monochromatic, and boring. The only comparisons out there to the superb driving of Mazda vehicles are Nissan Altima SR, Audi S3 and BMW M340.

Reviewed a 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 on Sep 19, 2025
The Mazda 3 really shines compared to other compact cars because it feels so much more fun and engaging to drive, with sharp handling, responsive steering, and even the option for all-wheel drive or a turbo engine if you want more power. Inside, it feels more like a luxury car than an economy sedan, thanks to its quiet cabin, high-quality materials, and sleek design. On top of that, it’s packed with modern safety features and earns strong crash-test ratings, which adds a lot of peace of mind. The trade-offs are that the back seat and trunk aren’t the most spacious, the ride can feel a little firm on rough roads, and the higher trims can get pricey. When you compare it to other cars, the Mazda 3 is definitely more stylish and fun than the Toyota Corolla, though the Corolla has hybrids and a long reputation for reliability; it feels more upscale than the Honda Civic, though the Civic offers more space and resale value; and it’s nicer to drive than the Hyundai Elantra, even if the Elantra is usually cheaper at the entry level. Overall, the Mazda 3 is a great choice if you care about style, quality, and the joy of driving, rather than just getting the most space or the lowest price.

Mazdas are generally good value. Maybe not as refined as some of the Honda/Toyota models but just as reliable and generally cheaper.

I love all of the new features this car has, compared to my 2019 Mazda 3 Select. It’s a lot more updated than I expected! I think the value of this car is very good. The only thing I would say this car is missing are, better speakers/sound adjustment settings. The older more basic version had it, but this new one doesn’t, which is odd to me. But overall, I love the car so far and it is worth the value.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 stands out because it takes the compact-car formula and gives it a more premium, more engaging feel than many mainstream rivals. Mazda’s fourth-generation car is described as a genuine alternative to premium-brand competitors, with sleek hatchback styling, a simple sporty cabin layout, supportive front seats, and high-quality materials. It also keeps a practical side, even if the hatchback’s tapered roof and window line reduce rear visibility a little.
What makes this model especially appealing is the breadth of equipment and the way it blends value with sophistication. All models are said to include alloy wheels, cruise control, LED headlights, and advanced safety features, while most versions also get blind-spot monitoring, dual-zone climate control, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Higher-spec versions add a Bose premium audio system and electric driver’s seat adjustment. The 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 also benefits from a strong reputation for reliability so far, with only a few reported air-conditioning issues and no major concerns noted.
There are a couple of limitations to keep in mind. The car’s premium positioning means some versions sit in a higher price range than earlier Mazda3s, and the hatchback’s styling can compromise rear visibility. Still, for buyers who want a compact car that feels upscale, is well equipped, and remains enjoyable to drive, the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 has a clear appeal.
