What should I look for when buying a used Mazda MAZDA3?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The Mazda3 sedan with the base engine is the most efficient version at 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres combined (8.8 city, 6.6 highway). Adding AWD increases the combined rating to 8.1 L/100 km, while opting for the Turbo engine bumps the figure to 8.8 L/100 km combined.
• Infotainment: The standard 8.8-inch infotainment display is small for its positioning just out of reach atop the dashboard, while higher-trimmed models get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless charging pad.
• Safety package: All 2026 Mazda3 models come standard with i-Activsense, including forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver condition monitor, blind-spot monitors, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Which Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 offers these trims:

• GX: The entry trim uses the 2.5-litre four-cylinder and front-wheel drive, making it the starting point for shoppers who want the Mazda3’s style and driving character at the lowest price.
• GS: This trim adds the option of all-wheel drive, making it a smart pick if you want extra traction and a broader equipment mix.
• GT: The GT brings the most equipment, including adaptive headlights, a head-up display, lane centring, a surround-view camera system, and reverse automatic braking; it is the best-value choice if you want the most complete Mazda3 experience.
• GT Turbo: This version adds the Turbo engine for stronger performance and is the right pick if you want the most power in the lineup.

What Mazda MAZDA3 do most buyers choose?

The Mazda MAZDA3 years with the most listings are 2024, 2018, and 2017.

These higher-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a strong mix of availability, pricing, and the Mazda3’s core appeal. When more listings are on the market, it is usually easier to compare trims and find a version that fits your budget.

What is the Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

Most Mazda MAZDA3 model years are down year over year, which is helpful if you are shopping used and want more value for your money. The newer years still show meaningful price movement, while the older years generally post larger drops. That pattern gives you a wide range of entry points depending on how much equipment and age you want to balance.

The 2025, 2015, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

• 2025: 9/10
• 2024: 9/10
• 2023: 8/10

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2026 Mazda3 is offered with a choice of two drivetrains, and the standard engine on all three trims in Canada produces 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo engine increases output to 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular unleaded fuel and 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium.
