What should I look for when buying a used Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing collection of advanced driving assistance systems, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, Traffic Jam Assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: standard 7-inch digital instrumentation panel and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; Civic Si and Sport Touring Hybrid add larger 10.2-inch instrumentation and 9-inch infotainment displays, Google built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: the Civic’s Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings are respectable at 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.0 on the highway, and 6.9 in combined driving.

Which Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim in the 2026 sedan lineup, with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, CVT, and the standard tech and safety suite; it suits you if you want the most affordable path into the Civic.
• Sport: A step up from LX that adds a more distinctive look, including 18-inch wheels and a shiny exhaust outlet tip, while keeping the same core powertrain; it is the best-value trim if you want a nicer presentation without moving up the price ladder too far.
• Sport Hybrid: The hybrid choice in the core sedan lineup, bringing Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain for stronger efficiency and more power.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: The most feature-rich core sedan trim, adding larger displays, Google built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, and premium convenience features.
• Si: The standalone sport sedan, with a turbocharged gas engine and manual transmission only for shoppers who want a more enthusiast-focused Civic.
• Type R: The performance hatchback variant for buyers who want the most track-oriented Civic in the lineup.

What Honda Civic do most buyers choose?

The Honda Civic years with the most listings are 2023, 2021, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they sit in a sweet spot between newer features and more accessible pricing. They also give you more choice in body style, trim, and equipment, which makes it easier to find a Civic that fits your budget and priorities.

What is the Honda Civic's resale value?

Most Civic model years are down year over year, and several recent ones have seen double-digit declines. That creates better opportunities for used buyers, especially if you are shopping newer examples that have softened from their prior-year prices. A few years have fallen more gently, which suggests some versions are retaining value better than others.

The 2015, 2026, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
