New & Used 2026 Toyota RAV4 for Sale near Portland, ON

Is the 2026 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 earns 6.83/10 from our experts. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It arrives redesigned with a standard hybrid drivetrain, more power, greater efficiency, and a quicker operating system, while also giving you three distinct design themes, two powertrain and drivetrain options, and five trim levels. That makes it a broader, more modern take on Toyota’s bestselling compact SUV formula.

The trade-offs are that the trim structure may be confusing and the RAV4’s size has not kept up with rivals. Even so, the combination of standard hybrid efficiency, updated tech, and more standard features should keep it appealing if you want a practical SUV with lower running costs.

34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is presented as a familiar, mainstream SUV with a historically strong safety record, and Toyota says the redesign should improve on the outgoing model’s front crash protection. The hybrid system is described as smoother than ever, with the handoff from motor to engine hardly noticeable in most situations, and the chassis has been stiffened at key mounting points and body junctions.

Toyota also says the standard hybrid powertrain should save you money over time compared with a gas-only model, which helps reduce the ownership burden. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the powertrain concept and more about buying a newer redesign before the market has fully proven its durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota RAV4?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE is the most stripped-down version, while higher grades add more convenience and comfort features. The XLE is the value-oriented step up, and the Woodland brings the Rugged look with all-terrain tires, a roof rack, and a tow hitch.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with three electric motors and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. It is tuned for smooth, quiet everyday driving rather than excitement, and the Woodland’s heavier equipment and all-terrain tyres raise fuel use.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert and lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, an emergency stop system, safe exit alert, and an enhanced rearview camera. A driver attention monitor is available on higher grades.
• Infotainment: You get a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.5-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota’s Arene operating system. A 12.9-inch touchscreen is reserved for top trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the base LE at 5.5 L/100 km combined, the XLE at 5.7 L/100 km combined, the XSE and Limited at 5.8 L/100 km combined, and the Woodland at 6.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2026 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, Woodland, XSE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the standard hybrid setup, all-wheel drive, the digital instrument cluster, the 10.5-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, push-button start, cloth upholstery, heated and manually adjustable seats, and three USB ports. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and are comfortable with fewer convenience features.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds 18-inch wheels, a power driver’s seat, and five USB ports, and it can be paired with a Premium package that adds a panoramic sunroof, LED fog lamps, and other upgrades. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• Woodland: This is the Rugged-themed choice, with all-terrain tyres, a roof rack with cross bars, a tow hitch, and unique styling. It suits you if you want the outdoorsy look and the extra utility, but it also carries higher fuel consumption.
• XSE: This trim moves you up to a more upscale and better-equipped version of the RAV4, and it can be paired with a Technology package that adds a panoramic sunroof, the low-profile shifter, lane change assist, and traffic jam assist. It is the right pick if you want more tech and a richer feel.
• Limited: This is the top trim, with the most premium positioning and the larger 12.9-inch touchscreen. It is the one to choose if you want the most fully loaded RAV4.

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is standard across the line, while the driver attention monitor is available on higher grades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Toyota RAV4?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings rather than rushing into the first decent example you see.

Is the 2026 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 comes with Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 as standard, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert and lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, an emergency stop system, safe exit alert, and an enhanced rearview camera.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota says the updated system uses a wider camera view and broader radar detection range, which should improve responsiveness and night detection. A driver attention monitor is available on higher grades. The redesign is also intended to address shortcomings the IIHS found in the outgoing RAV4’s front crash protection, but crash-test results for this model year have not yet been completed.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• You want the redesigned RAV4 with a standard hybrid drivetrain, more standard features, and a quicker operating system.

The bottom line: If you want the newest RAV4 with better efficiency, updated tech, and a broader trim and design spread, the 2026 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby used year may still make sense, especially if you can find a cleaner example with the equipment you want at a lower asking price.
