Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid a good car?

Yes — the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which lines up with its reputation as a well-rounded compact crossover. The model stands out for its comfortable ride, efficient hybrid operation, and easy-to-use technology, and it gets a light refresh for 2026 along with a new TrailSport trim level.

The trade-offs are worth noting: the test-drive notes call its off-road ability underwhelming, and they also point to the absence of SiriusXM radio and limited tech features. Even so, if you want a practical, efficient small SUV with a polished driving feel, it fits that brief well.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

The market shows 32.0% good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid is presented as a polished, efficient small SUV with a comfortable ride and a hybrid system that works smoothly in everyday driving. Honda’s own assessment also highlights easy-to-use technology, which usually helps reduce day-to-day frustration for used buyers.

The hybrid system’s seamless handoff between electric and gasoline power, along with its strong fuel efficiency, supports the case for dependable ownership. For used shoppers, the main long-term risk is less about the basic concept and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly and checked carefully before purchase.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TrailSport Hybrid adds orange badges, grey 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, a silver skid-plate-style trim piece, black door handles, and orange contrast stitching with embroidered headrests, while the lower trims do not get those adventure-focused touches.
• Powertrain: The hybrid trims use a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with two electric motors for 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, and the system replaces a traditional transmission with a two-motor setup that supports regenerative braking and one-pedal driving.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every model and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors are standard only on the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid trims.
• Infotainment: All 2026 CR-Vs get a nine-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a physical phone-projection button. Touring Hybrid models add Google built-in, while the TrailSport Hybrid, EX-L Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid get a 10.2-inch digital driver information display.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid comes in at 6.4 L/100 km combined on most models, while the TrailSport Hybrid is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid, EX-L Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Sport Hybrid: This is the entry point to the hybrid lineup, and it gives you the core hybrid powertrain without moving up into the pricier equipment tiers.
• TrailSport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the most rugged-looking hybrid CR-V, but keep in mind that the off-road hardware is limited and the test-drive notes say it is more bark than bite.
• EX-L Hybrid: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience equipment, including the 10.2-inch digital driver information display and front and rear parking sensors.
• Touring Hybrid: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped version, including Google built-in and the 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.

Honda Sensing is standard across the hybrid lineup, so you get the core safety suite no matter which trim you choose.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 562 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.34% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $47,933 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $47,933 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,733 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests future sellers may face a more competitive market than owners did a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the current trend points to a model that is still in demand, but not one that is appreciating in the near term.

Because the price range has eased while inventory remains available, your eventual resale outcome will likely depend on trim, condition, and mileage more than on broad market momentum. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid safe?

The 2026 Honda CR-V had not been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the time of writing, but the mechanically identical 2025 model received a Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS and five stars for overall crashworthiness by the NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every model and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, plus adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors are standard only on the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid trims.

One caveat is that the TrailSport does not add extra trail-view cameras, so you do not get forward-view or side-view angles for off-road manoeuvring.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2026 model adds a light refresh and a new TrailSport trim level.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the CR-V Hybrid with the latest trim walk and a softer used-market price than last year, the 2026 is the one to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but you should expect to give up some of the 2026 updates.
