CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Toyota Highlander
Summary
- With 75 currently listed for sale and an average price of $57,261 CAD, 40.0% of 2025 Toyota Highlander listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Highlander stands out as a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV with a long reputation for reliability and strong resale value. It is designed to do a lot of family-duty work without much fuss, and its appeal comes from a mix of roomy packaging, upscale touches, and a calm ride rather than excitement behind the wheel. Toyota’s standard safety suite also helps make it an easy vehicle to recommend for buyers who value peace of mind.
For this generation, all-wheel drive is standard in Canada, and the Highlander is offered with both gas and hybrid powertrains. The gas version uses a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 265 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, while the hybrid combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder and an electric motor for 243 system horsepower. Fuel economy is a strong point too, with the turbo four averaging 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres combined and the hybrid rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined. Cargo space is another highlight, with up to 2,387 litres available with the seats folded down, and every Highlander includes an 8-inch touchscreen, USB inputs, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are trade-offs, though. The Highlander’s steering is described as numb and uncommunicative, and its driving character is more competent than engaging. The third row is also small, so buyers needing true adult-sized space in the back may find it limiting. Even so, the 2025 Toyota Highlander remains appealing because it blends comfort, efficiency, safety, and everyday usefulness in a package that has long been one of the segment’s most dependable choices.
