The 2025 RAM 2500 is described as a meaningful upgrade to one of the most capable heavy-duty trucks, and its revised diesel powertrain adds to its appeal for buyers who need serious work capability. Its strong towing focus and composed ride also support the sense that it is built for demanding use over the long haul.

If you plan to keep it for years, the main ownership risk is that higher-spec versions and diesel-equipped trucks can become costly quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 RAM 2500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry Tradesman uses cheap-looking black plastic up front, while the Big Horn adds a more polished look. The Power Wagon and Rebel bring unique blacked-out front-end treatment and premium finishes, and the Laramie is where the luxury bits really start to appear with leather seating surfaces and larger touchscreen options. The Limited Longhorn and Limited are the most upscale choices, with distinctive interior themes and premium materials.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 6.4-litre Hemi V8 with 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, or a heavily revised turbocharged 6.7-litre Cummins inline-six in High Output form with 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is the big upgrade for 2025, and the truck’s coil-spring rear suspension helps it ride more composed than many rivals.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard. Park assist sensors are included on all but the base Tradesman trim level. The optional Safety Group adds adaptive steering, active lane management, automatic high beams, drowsy driver detection, and rain-sensing wipers on Tradesman and Big Horn trucks.
• Infotainment: An 8.4-inch touchscreen comes standard on the two lowest trims, while a 12-inch screen is standard on Power Wagon, Rebel and Laramie. The top trims get a 14.4-inch unit, and a passenger screen is also available. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are not mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated.

Which 2025 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2025 RAM 2500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and plan to add the Safety Group and towing tech as needed. It is the trim most clearly aimed at buyers who use the truck for work first.
• Big Horn: This is the better-value step up if you want a more polished look and access to more equipment without jumping too far up the price ladder. It pairs well with the available safety and tech packages.
• Power Wagon: This is the off-road specialist, with electronic locking front and rear differentials and a disconnecting sway bar. It is the right pick if trail ability matters more than towing-heavy versatility.
• Rebel: This is the best choice if you want strong off-road ability but still need to tow regularly. It keeps the rugged character while being more balanced than the Power Wagon for mixed use.
• Laramie: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it brings the luxury and tech upgrades that make the truck feel much more upscale. If you want the best blend of comfort, equipment and capability, this is the trim to focus on.
• Limited Longhorn: This is the most luxurious choice, with a cowboy-themed interior and premium materials. It suits you best if you want the most upscale cabin and are willing to pay for it.

The Safety Group is the key trim-level safety add-on to look for on Tradesman and Big Horn trucks.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 335 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $79,603 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $79,669 CAD sits slightly below last year's $90,682 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about asking prices. If you buy now, you may be entering at a softer point in the cycle, which can help reduce depreciation pressure compared with a hotter market. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty trucks should still support values, especially for well-equipped examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 RAM 2500 safe?

The 2025 RAM 2500 earns a four-star rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram offers a comprehensive package of modern safety technologies, but most are not standard across the board. Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard, while park assist sensors are included on all but the base Tradesman trim level. An optional Safety Group adds adaptive steering, active lane management, automatic high beams, drowsy driver detection, and rain-sensing wipers on Tradesman and Big Horn trucks.

A surround-view camera system and a Cargo View Camera are also available through packages, along with multiple auxiliary camera-prep setups. The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to move up a trim or add packages to get the equipment you want.

Should I buy a 2025 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 brings a major diesel upgrade with 1,075 lb-ft of torque and more luxury refinement.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a new pair of trim levels and keeps the truck feeling current.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, capability and current-model refinement, the 2025 is the better buy. If you are price-sensitive and find a well-equipped used example below the low end of the range, that is the path to prioritise; otherwise, the 2025 still makes the most sense for shoppers who need serious heavy-duty strength.
