Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-50 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

It stands out as a compact SUV that blends style, driving enjoyment, and efficiency, and it gains an efficient hybrid powertrain for 2025. That makes it a strong fit if you want a refined, fun-to-drive SUV with a more premium feel than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: it does not offer much cargo space, rear-seat space is limited, and the technology is described as outdated. Even so, the hybrid’s fuel-efficiency advantage gives it a practical edge if you value lower running costs.

34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which is a healthy signal for shoppers who are comparing options carefully.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Its performance is also framed as satisfying for most shoppers, with quick throttle response and a smooth, quiet highway manner.

On the ownership side, the hybrid’s fuel savings help offset its higher purchase price over time, which can make day-to-day use feel more manageable. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that its tighter cabin and cargo space may feel limiting if your needs grow.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim comes with a basic eight-speaker audio system, while the GT trim adds a 12-speaker Bose premium system. The hybrid model also brings red leather upholstery, which gives the cabin a more distinctive look.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, 219 horsepower, 163 lb-ft of torque, AWD, and an e-CVT. It is tuned for efficiency and everyday pace rather than serious off-road use.
• Safety package: All models include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch horizontal infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and touchscreen functionality only for those phone integrations. A wireless charging pad is standard on CX-50 Hybrid models in Canada.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated at 6.2 L/100 km combined, compared with 8.9 L/100 km combined for the standard engine and 9.4 L/100 km combined for the turbo.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 2 trim levels: GS-L and GT.

Here's the short version:

• GS-L: This is the best-value choice if you want the hybrid’s efficiency and core safety equipment without stretching to the pricier trim. It gives you the essential CX-50 experience with the strongest value case.
• GT: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel, especially the 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and the richer equipment mix that suits the CX-50’s near-luxury character.

All CX-50 models come with the same standard driver-assistance suite, so you are not giving up core safety equipment by staying with the lower trim.

The current average of $41,740 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,344 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. The CX-50’s strong style, efficiency, and broad appeal should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 safe?

In testing, the systems functioned as designed with no false alarms, and the adaptive cruise control is noted for smooth acceleration and stops.

The main caveat is the lower rollover-protection result from NHTSA, though the overall safety picture remains strong.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 adds an efficient hybrid powertrain that improves fuel economy without losing the CX-50’s sporty character.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,200 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $41,740 CAD average.
• It offers stylish design and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced package, the 2025 is the stronger pick because it adds efficiency to the CX-50’s style and driving enjoyment. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the more budget-friendly route.
