Is the 2025 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — the 2025 MINI Cooper earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall appeal for shoppers who want character and driving enjoyment. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

The 2025 MINI Cooper is redesigned for this generation, with a little more room inside and out, while still keeping the playful personality and light weight that help it feel lively and agile. It is also positioned as a fun but practical small car, with solid overall fuel economy and a turbocharged four-cylinder in the Cooper S that gives it an especially energetic character.

The trade-offs are clear: the infotainment is poor, and you no longer get a manual transmission as standard, so you have to pay extra if you want to shift gears yourself. The high base price also makes it a more emotional purchase than a value play.

With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 MINI Cooper is described as a redesigned model that still keeps the small-car charm buyers expect, and its light weight and lively road manners support the impression of a car built for enjoyable everyday use. The expert review also notes solid overall fuel economy, which can help reduce day-to-day ownership strain.

On the dependability side, the infotainment system is described as laggy and prone to losing its smartphone pairing, and the test vehicle also showed a software-like glitch with an interior light. For used buyers, that means condition and maintenance history matter, especially if you want a trouble-free ownership experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 MINI Cooper?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets the MINI’s fresh design, panoramic sunroof on non-convertible four-door models, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, while the Cooper S adds the more energetic turbocharged setup and stronger performance character.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and front-wheel drive; the base model makes 161 horsepower, while the Cooper S makes 201 hp and feels much more eager.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go is optional.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a round 9.4-inch touchscreen with Mini’s Operating System 9 software, and standard equipment includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and dual-zone climate control.
• Fuel efficiency: The model returns a Natural Resources Canada combined rating of between 7.3 and 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres, depending on configuration.

Which 2025 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2025 MINI Cooper is offered in 4 trim levels: Cooper C three-door, Cooper C four-door, Cooper S three-door, Cooper S four-door.

Here's the short version:

• Cooper C three-door: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core MINI personality at the lowest price. It suits you best if you want the style and compact footprint first, and can live with the base engine.
• Cooper C four-door: Choose this if you want the same starting point but need easier rear-seat access and a bit more everyday flexibility.
• Cooper S three-door: This is the best-value trim if you care most about driving enjoyment, because the stronger engine is the big upgrade and the review says the added torque is worth it.
• Cooper S four-door: Pick this if you want the more powerful setup plus the extra practicality of the four-door body style.

Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go is optional, so make sure the specific used example you are considering has the safety equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 MINI Cooper?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 141 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.71% compared with last year.

What is the 2025 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $38,376 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,701 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about what the car will bring on trade-in or private sale. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the earlier average.

The model’s strong personality, redesigned cabin, and solid fuel economy should help it stay appealing to the right buyer. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 MINI Cooper safe?

The 2025 MINI Cooper has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

In Canada, standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality is optional.

One important caveat is that the NHTSA has already issued a recall for the Mini’s integrated braking system, so you should confirm that any used example has had the issue addressed before you buy.

Should I buy a 2025 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model brings a redesigned cabin, more room inside and out, and new infotainment tech while keeping the MINI’s playful personality.

The bottom line: If you want the newest MINI Cooper with the updated design and you value the stronger market pricing, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2025 gives you the freshest version of the car’s style, space, and tech.
