How much does the 2025 Hyundai Sonata cost?

There are 107 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4/5 user rating and a 9.00/10 expert rating, which lines up with its strong value and safety focus. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

The Sonata is aimed at you if you want a midsize family sedan that feels secure without giving up comfort, and its comfortable ride broadens its appeal. The expert notes also point to a well-rounded package, with improved crash-test ratings for 2025 and a value proposition that remains compelling in a crowded segment.

The trade-offs are clear: its design may not suit everyone, and the N Line’s fuel economy is a weakness if you want the sportier version. Limited all-wheel drive availability is another consideration if that matters to your driving conditions.

With 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sonata is presented as a safe, comfortable, value-focused sedan, and the expert assessment reinforces that it is built to serve as a practical family car. The 2025 update also brought improved crash-test performance, which supports confidence in the car’s overall durability and day-to-day dependability.

Hyundai backs every 2025 Sonata with a five-year, 100,000-kilometre warranty and five years of complimentary roadside assistance with no kilometre limit, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is whether the car was maintained well, especially if you are considering the more performance-oriented version.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Preferred-Trend and N Line trims differ meaningfully. The Preferred-Trend is the more straightforward value play, while the N Line adds a darker, sportier cabin treatment, red accents, metal pedal covers, and a more performance-focused feel. If you want the best-value balance of equipment and price, the Preferred-Trend is the one to focus on.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 191 horsepower and can be paired with available AWD on Preferred-Trend models. The N Line uses a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 pound-feet of torque, a dual-clutch automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, and no AWD.
• Safety package: Every 2025 Sonata includes forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, voice recognition, and Bluetooth for two phones at once. The N Line adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, navigation, wireless charging, digital key technology, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The N Line is the thirstiest version, with an estimated 8.8 L/100 km combined and a much worse observed result in testing. The base engine is the better choice if fuel use matters more than performance.

Which 2025 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 2 trim levels: Preferred-Trend and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred-Trend: This is the trim to target if you want the Sonata’s core strengths without paying for the sportier hardware. You still get the standard safety suite, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the available AWD option, making it the smarter everyday choice for most shoppers.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the most engaging Sonata. It adds the turbocharged 290-hp engine, the dual-clutch transmission, sport-tuned suspension, larger wheels, navigation, wireless charging, digital key technology, and the Bose audio system. It is the trim for you if performance matters more than fuel economy.

Every 2025 Sonata includes the standard advanced driver-assistance suite, while Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 107 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.95% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,878 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $31,929 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,104 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the car quickly.

The good news is that the Sonata’s strong value, safety, and comfort story should help it stay relevant with shoppers who want a practical midsize sedan. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, and it earns five-star crash-test ratings in nearly every assessment performed by NHTSA, including rollover resistance; the only four-star result was the driver’s side protection in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2025 Sonata has standard advanced driving assistance systems, including forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line, pairing adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist.

The main caveat is that the Sonata’s safety story improved for 2025, so you should pay attention to build timing if you are comparing used examples from the same model year.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the 2025 Sonata’s improved crash-test ratings and Top Safety Pick+ result.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, safety, and equipment, the 2025 Sonata is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and look for a well-priced example, but the 2025 model year already gives you the benefit of the safety upgrade and a softer used-market price.
