How much does the 2025 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Prices have softened 13.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 114 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns 4/5 from users and 9/10 from our experts, which points to a strong overall package. It also scores 9.00/10 from expert test drive data.

The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

The Sonata is aimed at you if you want a family sedan that feels secure without giving up comfort, and the overview makes clear that value and safety are its biggest strengths. The expert review also highlights that the refreshed Sonata remains competitive in the midsize-sedan class, with the N Line adding a more engaging personality if you want something sportier.

Trade-offs include the polarising design and limited all-wheel drive availability, and the N Line’s fuel economy is a clear compromise if efficiency matters most to you. The market shows 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which is a decent sign of availability for shoppers who want to compare options.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sonata’s overview and expert notes both point to a car that is built around value, comfort, and safety rather than complexity for its own sake. The expert review also describes it as a well-rounded midsize sedan with strong safety credentials, and the cost-effectiveness notes underline the appeal of Hyundai’s warranty coverage and roadside assistance.

Its performance content suggests the standard powertrain is straightforward, while the N Line adds more hardware and a more demanding character. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the sportier version’s higher-performance setup may bring more compromise at the fuel pump and a less relaxed daily experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Preferred-Trend and N Line trims differ meaningfully in appearance and equipment. The base Preferred-Trend is the one to watch if you want the lower entry point, while the N Line adds a more distinctive cabin, dual digital screens under one display panel, and a sportier overall feel.
• Powertrain: The standard 191-horsepower, 2.5-litre four-cylinder is the efficiency-minded choice, while the N Line’s turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 290 hp and 311 pound-feet of torque and uses a dual-clutch automatic transmission. AWD is available on Preferred-Trend models, but not on the N Line.
• Safety package: Every 2025 Sonata includes forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line, so that trim gets the most advanced driver-assistance setup.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, voice recognition, and Bluetooth for two phones at once. The N Line adds navigation, wireless smartphone charging, digital key technology, and an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The N Line is the one to scrutinise most closely if fuel costs matter, since the expert review says NRCan estimates 8.8 L/100 km combined and the test loop returned 12.6 L/100 km.

Which 2025 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 2 trim levels: Preferred-Trend and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred-Trend: This is the trim to focus on if you want the best-value path into the Sonata. It gives you the standard safety suite, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the option of AWD, which makes it the more practical pick for many used buyers.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the sportier Sonata. It adds the turbocharged 290-hp engine, DCT transmission, Highway Driving Assist, navigation, wireless charging, digital key technology, and the Bose audio system, but it also brings the fuel-economy trade-off and no AWD.

The safety package is standard across the range, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 114 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,787 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $31,954 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,988 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if you want to stand out against a market that has already adjusted downward. The good news is that the Sonata’s strong value story and safety reputation should help keep it relevant with shoppers who want a well-equipped midsize sedan.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2025 Sonata earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and five-star crash-test ratings in nearly every NHTSA assessment, including rollover resistance; the only four-star result was for driver-side protection in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2025 Sonata has standard advanced driving assistance systems, including forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line, pairing adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist.

The main caveat is that the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ result applies to Sonatas manufactured after November 2024, so you should confirm build timing when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the refreshed safety improvements and the Top Safety Pick+ result.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, safety, and comfort, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are mainly shopping on price, you may also want to compare nearby model years, but the 2025’s improved safety credentials make it the more compelling choice for many used buyers.
