How much does the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric cost?

Prices have softened 10.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric a good car?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric earns an 8.33/10 expert rating and is positioned as a value-focused electric crossover with fresh styling, a long list of features, and a comfortable, competent driving experience.

The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Its strengths are clear: you get a well-equipped EV with strong value, standard advanced safety features, and a cabin that feels airy and thoughtfully laid out. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and the lack of all-wheel drive, so you should be comfortable prioritizing efficiency and features over quick acceleration or extra traction.

With 30.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find a competitive example.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric reliable?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric is presented as a competent, comfortable commuter with a five-year, 100,000-kilometre limited warranty and an eight-year, 160,000-kilometre battery and electric-drive warranty in Canada.

Its performance notes point to a straightforward EV setup with front-wheel drive, a 64.8-kWh battery pack, and a 400-volt electrical architecture. The battery pre-conditioning system is a useful plus for public charging, and the home charging setup is practical for everyday ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging system have been cared for properly, since EV ownership depends heavily on battery health and charging habits over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the sole trim level is Preferred, while Trend, Ultimate, and N Line Ultimate packages are available. Cloth seating is standard, while the Trend and Ultimate packages add leatherette and the N Line gets its own faux-leather and Alcantara design. The N Line Ultimate package also adds special 19-inch wheels, unique front and rear fasciae, and an exclusive bumper with a diffuser.
• Powertrain: The Kona Electric uses front-wheel drive only, with a 64.8-kWh battery pack, 201 hp, and 291 lb-ft of torque. It is not the quickest EV, but it is tuned more for commuting comfort than sporty acceleration.
• Safety package: Every trim comes with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, a driver attention monitor, and Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist. The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add parking aids such as a surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor.
• Infotainment: Every Kona Electric gets dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and standard native navigation. The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages include wireless device charging.
• Range & charging: All Kona Electrics come with a 64.8-kWh battery pack and up to 420 kilometres of driving range per charge, while the N Line Ultimate package is rated at 370 kilometres. DC fast charging takes more than 40 minutes from 10% to 80%, and home charging should take about five to six hours.
• Battery health: As with any used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, ask how the car was typically charged, and confirm whether it spent most of its life on home charging or frequent DC fast charging. You should also verify how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric is offered in 4 trim levels: Preferred, Trend, Ultimate, and N Line Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the value play if you want the core Kona Electric experience with standard advanced safety features, dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full 420-kilometre range. It is the best-value choice if you do not need the extra comfort or convenience features in the higher packages.
• Trend: This is the smart step up if you want leatherette seating and a more upscale cabin feel without jumping all the way to the top packages. It adds a nicer interior while keeping the Kona Electric’s value-first appeal intact.
• Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most rounded package, especially because it adds wireless device charging and parking aids such as the surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor. It is the best fit if convenience and parking help matter to you.
• N Line Ultimate: Pick this only if you want the sportiest appearance package, with special 19-inch wheels, unique front and rear fasciae, and an exclusive bumper with a diffuser. Keep in mind that it also has a reduced driving range of 370 kilometres.

The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add the most safety-related parking technology.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric?

The current market looks moderate for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare and some room to negotiate if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 62 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.75% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,940 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric's resale value?

The current average of $36,940 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,389 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Kona Electric has become more attractive for used buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar quickly. If you buy at today’s average or below, you may be starting from a more favourable entry point than someone who bought when prices were higher. For resale, the key will be how well the battery, charging system, and overall condition hold up over time.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric comes with a full suite of standard driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, a driver attention monitor, and Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

If you want more parking help, the Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add a surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor. There are no crash-test ratings cited for this model year here, so the strongest safety takeaway is the breadth of standard equipment rather than a published test result.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.75% compared with last year.
• It appeals to you as a value-focused EV with fresh styling, more features than before, and a competent, comfortable driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, features, and standard safety in this model line, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower entry price outweighs the 2025’s updated feature set and current market softness.
