How much does the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric cost?

Prices have softened 10.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 71 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric a good car?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric earns an 8.33/10 expert rating and is positioned as a value-focused electric crossover with fresh styling, a long list of features, and a comfortable, competent driving experience.

The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It’s a strong fit if you want an EV that leans into affordability and everyday usability rather than outright speed. The cabin is described as airy and well appointed, and the standard advanced safety features add to its appeal.

Trade-offs: performance is fairly pedestrian, and all-wheel drive is not available.

With 26.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric reliable?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric is presented as a sensible, comfort-oriented EV with a competent ride, a quiet cabin, and battery pre-conditioning to help with charging in colder conditions.

Its electric-drive hardware is backed by a five-year, 100,000-kilometre limited warranty and an eight-year, 160,000-kilometre warranty for the battery and related electric-drive components. That gives you meaningful coverage for long-term ownership, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years.

The performance notes also point to a straightforward EV setup with regenerative braking modes and a 400-volt architecture, which is practical but not especially quick at public chargers. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging system have been cared for properly, since those are the parts you’ll rely on most.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the sole trim level is Preferred, while Trend, Ultimate, and N Line Ultimate packages are available. Cloth seating is standard, while the Trend and Ultimate packages add leatherette and the N Line gets its own faux-leather and Alcantara design. The N Line Ultimate package also adds sporty visual changes, including special 19-inch wheels and unique front and rear fasciae.
• Powertrain: You get front-wheel drive only, a 64.8-kWh battery pack, 201 hp, and 291 lb-ft of torque. Range is up to 420 kilometres, though the N Line Ultimate package drops to 370 kilometres because of its larger wheels.
• Safety package: Every trim comes with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, a driver attention monitor, and Highway Driving Assist. The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add a surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor.
• Infotainment: You get dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, native navigation, and over-the-air-style convenience features such as charging guidance and route planning support. The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages also include wireless device charging.
• Range & charging: Range is up to 420 kilometres, usable battery capacity is 64.8 kWh, and DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes more than 40 minutes. Home charging with the 11-kW onboard charger should take about five to six hours.
• Battery health: For a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, confirm how the car was typically charged, and look for evidence of regular home charging rather than repeated DC fast charging. You should also verify how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric is offered in 4 trim levels: Preferred, Trend, Ultimate, and N Line Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the value play if you want the core Kona Electric experience with the standard safety suite, dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full 420-kilometre range. It’s the best-value choice for most shoppers.
• Trend: Choose this if you want a nicer cabin, since it adds leatherette seating while keeping the same basic formula.
• Ultimate: This is the better pick if you want more convenience and parking help, thanks to wireless device charging, a surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor.
• N Line Ultimate: Pick this only if you specifically want the sportier appearance package and are comfortable giving up some range, since it drops to 370 kilometres.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add the most useful parking and visibility tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 71 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,075 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric's resale value?

The current average of $37,843 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,280 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Kona Electric has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help you get into one at a lower entry point. For a future seller, though, the softer market means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly.

Because the model is positioned as a value-focused EV, resale will likely depend heavily on condition, remaining warranty coverage, and how much battery life and charging performance it still has left.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric does not have published NHTSA or IIHS ratings at the time of writing.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai includes a broad standard driver-assistance suite on every trim: automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, a driver attention monitor, and Highway Driving Assist. If you want the most parking and visibility support, the Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add a surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.49% compared with last year.
• It appeals to you as a value-focused EV with fresh styling, a long feature list, and strong standard safety equipment.

The bottom line:

The 2025 model is the better choice if you want the latest version of the Kona Electric’s value-first formula and you’re comfortable with its modest performance. If you’re more price-sensitive, a lower-priced nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2025 gives you a compelling mix of features, warranty coverage, and softened pricing.
