The 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD is described as having a number of reported problems, including check engine lights, sluggish infotainment responses, rough or delayed shifts, electrical glitches, MultiPro tailgate faults, and faulty trailer brake controllers. That means used buyers should inspect service history carefully and pay close attention to how the truck drives and operates in daily use. For long-term ownership, the main risk is buying a poorly maintained example with unresolved electronic or drivetrain issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 192 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $88,155 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $88,380 CAD sits slightly below last year's $100,443 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the truck is equipped and maintained. Higher-end trims and well-kept examples should hold more appeal than neglected trucks with unresolved issues. If you buy carefully now, you may be better positioned to recover value later when demand for clean heavy-duty pickups stays strong.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $77,722 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $88,380 CAD average.
• The 2024 leans heavily into luxury while still delivering serious towing capability.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the broader current-market selection and are comfortable paying more for the newer model year. If your priority is value, the 2024 is the better starting point because it undercuts the current average by a wide margin while still delivering the Sierra HD’s upscale, heavy-duty character.

How does the 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD compare to the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

The GMC costs more on average, but it also gives you more listings to choose from and a slightly larger share of good or great deals. If you want the lower entry price, the Ford is the cheaper option. If you want more inventory and a more premium-leaning heavy-duty truck, the Sierra 2500HD has the edge.
