How much does the 2024 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

It is a strong fit if you want a midsize truck with a modern foundation, standard 4WD in Canada, and a clear emphasis on durability and capability. The trade-offs are a noisy cabin and manual-adjust seats that can be troublesome, while even the top trim keeps an interior that skews functional rather than plush.

There are 35.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Toyota’s reputation for reliability is a major part of the Tacoma’s appeal, and the truck’s new platform and updated steering hardware are meant to modernise the driving experience without losing that durability-first character. The expert review also points to smooth automatic shifting and a well-sorted on-road feel across versions.

The Tacoma’s long-term ownership risk for used buyers is mainly tied to choosing the right configuration for your needs, since the cabin and controls prioritise utility over comfort.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tacoma’s standard 17-inch alloy wheels and the TRD Off Road packages’ 17-inch off-road alloys help separate the more basic versions from the more trail-focused ones. The Premium packages add heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats, but even those trims keep a functional, truck-first interior rather than a plush one.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder produces 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, and all Canadian versions come with 4WD. The eight-speed automatic is described as smooth and well timed, while the six-speed manual has a high bite point that can be awkward in tight manoeuvres.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, with Lane Tracing Assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, oncoming vehicle collision avoidance assist, road-sign assist, and an emergency stop system. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 8 inches, while the Premium packages get a 14-inch centre display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Toyota’s Audio Multimedia system is described as responsive and legible.
• Fuel efficiency: The manual-transmission version is expected to use 11.9 L/100 km combined, while the automatic is estimated at as low as 11.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 2 trim levels: TRD Sport and TRD Off Road.

Here's the short version:

• TRD Sport: This is the better fit if you want the more road-oriented package, with sport-tuned shocks and the Tacoma’s standard modern safety and tech equipment. It suits you if you want a balanced daily driver without chasing the most trail-focused hardware.
• TRD Off Road: This is the one to choose if you want the strongest off-pavement character, since it gets monotube Bilstein shocks and 17-inch off-road alloys. It is the better-value pick if your priority is capability rather than appearance or comfort extras.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and the Tacoma also includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Tacoma?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 482 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.35% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $52,865 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $52,890 CAD sits slightly below last year's $57,089 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively today, but it also means a future seller may face a market that is still adjusting to the redesigned truck. If demand stays steady, the Tacoma’s reputation for reliability should continue to support used values. The current price range also suggests there is still room for depreciation to normalise after the redesign.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The Tacoma comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including Lane Tracing Assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, oncoming vehicle collision avoidance assist, road-sign assist, emergency stop functionality, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

That standard driver-assistance suite is a major strength, especially because it is included across the lineup rather than reserved for higher trims. The review also notes that Toyota’s new electric power steering helps enable additional driver-assistance features and brings the truck into the modern age of Level 2 autonomous driving aids.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a ground-up redesign, standard advanced driver-assistance tech, and a more modern platform.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,011 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $52,890 CAD average.
• It is a rugged, reliability-focused Tacoma with a familiar size and strong off-road ability.

The bottom line: If you want the newest Tacoma with the most up-to-date tech and safety equipment, the 2024 is the better long-term pick. If your priority is saving money and you are comfortable giving up the redesign, the 2023 is the more budget-friendly route.
