How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Prices have softened 9.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Mazda CX-50 earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

It suits you best if you want a small crossover that leans rugged, with standard all-wheel drive and a classy interior design. The trade-off is that it is described as having fairly pedestrian performance and poor value for money, so it makes more sense if style and everyday usability matter more than outright excitement or bargain pricing.

31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-50 is positioned as a practical, everyday crossover with standard all-wheel drive and a strong safety feature set, which supports confidence in day-to-day use. Its Canadian warranty coverage is also better than average for drivers who put on a lot of kilometres, with three-year new vehicle and five-year powertrain coverage, both without mileage limits.

Its 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine lineup is straightforward, and the model’s standard equipment helps reduce the need to chase higher trims just for essentials. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the CX-50’s value proposition is not especially strong, so depreciation may be a bigger concern than durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-50?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: GS-L, GT, and Meridian Edition each bring a different look and equipment mix. The GS-L starts with 17-inch wheels, while the GT gets 20-inch wheels and the Meridian Edition adds all-terrain tyres on 18-inch wheels, a black hood graphic, and more pronounced rocker-panel trim. The Meridian Edition is the most distinctive choice if you want the toughest appearance, but it also brings extra noise from its tyres and roof platform setup.
• Powertrain: All models use a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, with turbocharging on higher trim levels. The base engine makes 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, while the turbo version is rated at 256 hp and 320 lb-ft on 93-octane fuel or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on 87-octane fuel. All-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic are standard.
• Safety package: Mazda’s standard driver-assistance suite includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a driver attention monitor. Emergency lane-keeping with road-keep assist, rear automatic braking, traffic-jam assist, and a 360-degree camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and dual front and rear USB ports. The system is not a touchscreen by default, and higher trims add wireless phone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 8.9 L/100 km combined, while the turbo engine is rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 3 trim levels: GS-L, GT, and Meridian Edition.

Here's the short version:

• GS-L: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the CX-50’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need. You still get standard all-wheel drive, the 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full standard safety suite.
• GT: This trim adds a more upscale feel with 20-inch wheels and higher-end convenience and tech features. It makes sense if you want a more polished daily driver and are willing to pay for extra equipment.
• Meridian Edition: This is the most distinctive trim, with all-terrain tyres, a black hood graphic, and more rugged styling details. It suits you if the CX-50’s outdoorsy image is the main reason you’re shopping it, but it is not a true off-road upgrade.

Mazda’s standard safety package is strong across the range, while the optional driver-assistance features remain available if you want more coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-50?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 378 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.76% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,826 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $37,826 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,915 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-50 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for a future seller to attract interest if the vehicle is well kept. At the same time, softer pricing today can also mean resale values may not hold as firmly as they would in a hotter market.

Because the CX-50 is still relatively new and has a strong feature set, well-equipped examples should remain appealing to shoppers who want standard all-wheel drive and a more rugged look. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The CX-50 was named a 2023 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it received a five-star frontal crash-test rating and four-star rollover crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a driver attention monitor. Optional features include emergency lane-keeping with road-keep assist, rear automatic braking, traffic-jam assist, and a 360-degree camera system.

The main caveat is that the standard headlights were only rated “Average,” and the nighttime pedestrian front-crash prevention result was “Basic,” so you may want to pay close attention to lighting and available safety options on a used example.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines rugged styling with standard all-wheel drive and a classy interior.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $32,749 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $37,826 CAD average.
• It offers slightly more rear-seat room and practical cargo space.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $41,895 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $37,826 CAD average.
• It adds a hybrid powertrain that improves fuel efficiency.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the right pick if you want the CX-50’s rugged styling, standard all-wheel drive, and a more balanced used-market price. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the better value; if you want better efficiency and can spend more, the 2025 is the more advanced choice.
