Used 2024 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearSherwood Park, AB

How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 991 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Mazda positions it as an SUV for active urbanites, and that fits the data well: you get stylish design, excellent outward visibility, a comfortable cabin, commendable quality, and strong everyday usability. It is also genuinely enjoyable to drive, which helps it stand out if you want a compact crossover that feels more polished than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear, though: the technology is dated, cargo space is limited, and turbo models are noted for poor fuel economy. Even so, if you value driving enjoyment and a premium-feeling cabin over maximum practicality, it remains a strong fit.

With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 CX-5 is described as a vehicle that has been steadily refined rather than redesigned, and that long-running development approach has helped it feel better than ever. The expert assessment also points to commendable quality and a well-sorted driving experience, which supports the case for dependable day-to-day use.

The performance notes are reassuring too: the CX-5 is presented as composed, quiet on the highway, and confident in traffic and parking lots thanks to excellent outward visibility. Mazda’s continuous upgrades to the interior, drivetrain, suspension, and other systems suggest a mature product rather than a rushed one.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that its dated technology and weaker fuel economy may feel more frustrating over time than mechanical durability concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and feature set vary meaningfully by trim, with the base versions missing some of the nicer upgrades found higher up the range. The Suna test vehicle also shows how much more upscale the CX-5 can feel when you move into richer materials and trim-exclusive details.
• Powertrain: You can shop the base 2.5-litre four-cylinder or the 2.5 Turbo. The turbo is stronger, but it is also the version called out for poor fuel economy.
• Safety package: Every version gets adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive headlights and traffic sign recognition arrive as you move up the trim ladder, while the Signature adds a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
• Infotainment: The CX-5 uses a 10.25-inch display, and several trim levels add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mazda also offers touchscreen operation for those smartphone platforms while driving, though the system is still centred around a rotary controller.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo version is rated at 9.8 L/100 km combined, with a real-world result of 10.3 L/100 km on the evaluation loop. The base engine is rated at 9.3 L/100 km combined, or 8.5 L/100 km with the cylinder deactivation option.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 7 trim levels: GS, GX, Kuro, GT, Sport Design, Suna, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point if you want the CX-5’s core strengths at the lowest rung, including the standard safety suite and all-wheel drive.
• GS: This is the best-value trim if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and everyday appeal without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Kuro: Choose this if you want a more distinctive appearance and a step up in presentation over the lower trims.
• GT: This is the sensible upgrade if you want a more premium-feeling CX-5 with broader appeal for daily use.
• Sport Design: Pick this if you want a more style-focused version that leans into the CX-5’s upscale look.
• Suna: This is the standout if you want the richest cabin presentation, the Turbo engine, wireless smartphone connectivity, and the Bose audio system.
• Signature: Buy this if you want the most complete feature set, including the extra safety and parking technology reserved for the top trim.

Safety-package note: adaptive headlights and traffic sign recognition are added as you move up the trim ladder, while the Signature gets the most advanced driver-assistance hardware.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 991 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.57% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,640 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $32,709 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,172 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. A model that has already moved down from its prior-year average may not deliver the same short-term upside for resale as a vehicle with firmer pricing.

Even so, the CX-5’s strong reputation for quality, style, and driving enjoyment should help it stay appealing to used shoppers. If you keep it in good condition and choose a well-equipped trim, you should have a better chance of attracting interest later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, except for a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips every version with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Those systems are standard, which gives the CX-5 a strong safety foundation right from the start.

As you move up the trim ladder, you can add adaptive headlights and traffic sign recognition, while the Signature gets a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking. The expert notes also say the standard lane departure and lane-keeping systems work well without being intrusive.

One caveat is that the CX-5 no longer earns the Top Safety Pick designation it has achieved in the past, even though the latest criteria do not make the reason obvious from the ratings alone.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Mazda’s continuous refinement keeps the CX-5 feeling polished, upscale, and enjoyable to drive.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $30,272 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $32,709 CAD average.
• It remains appealing, but it is living on borrowed time.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $33,734 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $32,709 CAD average.
• It stays sporty and upscale, but practicality remains limited.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, refinement, and current-market availability, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If price is your top priority, the 2023 is the better bargain, while the 2025 makes sense only if you are comfortable paying more for a newer model year.
