CarGurus Analysis: 2024 MINI Cooper
Summary
With 132 currently listed for sale and an average price of $32,814 CAD, 32.6% of 2024 MINI Cooper listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 MINI Cooper 4 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 MINI Cooper stands out for blending retro charm with a genuinely playful driving character. MINI’s own summary of the model highlights its sharp handling, short wheelbase, and low weight, and those traits are a big part of why the Cooper has such a strong enthusiast following. Even in standard form, it is described as a keen handler with go-kart-like responses and the brand’s trademark British style, which gives it a personality that is hard to mistake for anything else on the road.
For 2024, the Cooper sits within the third-generation family, which has been around since 2014. In this generation, MINI offers the Cooper as a two- or four-door hatchback and as a convertible, with front-wheel drive across the line. The standard engine is a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder with 134 horsepower, while the Cooper S is much quicker at 189 horsepower. The cabin also gets a distinctive 8-inch infotainment touchscreen surrounded by a light ring that changes colours with drive modes, plus Apple CarPlay and navigation. On the practical side, the car remains small inside: the back seats are tight, cargo space is limited, and the Convertible is especially restricted in that regard.
That mix of style, customisable premium feel, and driving enjoyment is what makes the 2024 MINI Cooper appealing. It is not the roomiest choice, and the ride can be harsh at times, but buyers are usually drawn to it for its character rather than its practicality. The model’s iffy reliability record is worth keeping in mind, so condition matters a great deal, but for shoppers who want a small car with personality and a lively chassis, the Cooper remains distinctive.

Great performance and handling, providing features above its competitors in its class . One downside it’s more expensive to maintain than the other cars in its class.

Is the 2024 MINI Cooper a good car?
Generally — 4/5 is a solid user rating for the 2024 MINI Cooper, and the model’s appeal comes through clearly in its playful driving character and retro charm. It is described as a keen handler with short-wheelbase responses and a low-weight feel, so you should expect a car that prioritises personality over pure practicality. That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively now, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive resale environment if prices stay under pressure. If you keep the car in strong condition, you improve your chances of protecting value when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.81% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $28,306 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $32,865 CAD average.
- It adds extra visual flair and keeps the MINI’s playful personality.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $39,621 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $32,865 CAD average.
- It brings a redesigned cabin with updated tech and more space.
The bottom line: The 2024 is the best fit if you want the current-year balance of price, inventory, and MINI character. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer redesign and can stretch your budget.
