CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Lexus IS
Summary
- With 78 currently listed for sale and an average price of $49,992 CAD, 17.9% of 2024 Lexus IS listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan that still leans into driver appeal. Lexus positions the IS as an entry-level model with comparatively low pricing and compact proportions, and it is aimed at younger buyers and people who do not often carry passengers. That focus comes with a clear trade-off: the back seat is really tight, so it is less practical for families.
For 2024, the IS sits within the third generation, which had already gained a major refresh for 2021. That means it benefits from the updated styling and technology introduced then, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a touchscreen display, and standard Lexus Safety System+ features such as automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane trace assist. Standard equipment also includes NuLuxe synthetic leather seats, heated front seats, an eight-inch infotainment screen, passive entry, push-button start, dual automatic climate controls, and 18-inch wheels. Available upgrades include a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system, a power moonroof, and a 10.3-inch infotainment screen with navigation.
At the same time, the 2024 Lexus IS is not the most practical or efficient choice in its class. The source describes it as fun to drive and easy to use, but also notes limited cargo space, cramped rear seating, and poor fuel economy. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who value a sporty feel and a well-equipped cabin more than outright space or thrift.

How much does the 2024 Lexus IS cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $49,619 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $45,773 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $50,503 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $50,248 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.25% |
Prices have softened 1.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 76 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2024 Lexus IS a good car?
The 2024 Lexus IS is a compact luxury sports sedan that leans into driver appeal, with comparatively low pricing and compact proportions that suit younger buyers and people who do not often carry passengers. It is fun to drive and easy to use, but it is less practical for families because the back seat is really tight.
You also get a well-equipped cabin with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a touchscreen display, and standard Lexus Safety System+ features, along with heated front seats, passive entry, push-button start, and dual automatic climate controls. For shoppers who value a sporty feel and a premium-feeling interior more than space, that combination makes sense.
21.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to find a competitive offer.
Is the 2024 Lexus IS reliable?
The 2024 Lexus IS builds on the third generation and benefits from the major 2021 refresh, so you are shopping a model with established technology and a familiar feature set. The overview also points to standard safety equipment and easy-to-use cabin tech, which supports its appeal as a straightforward luxury sedan.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about living with the car’s compromises, especially if you need rear-seat space, cargo room, or better fuel economy.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Lexus IS?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 21.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.25% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $45,773 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Lexus IS's resale value?
The current average of $49,619 CAD sits slightly below last year's $50,248 CAD.
That small decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing trend points to steady but not especially strong short-term appreciation. For a future seller, condition and mileage will matter a lot if you want to stay near the top of the market.
Should I buy a 2024 Lexus IS or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 21.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.25% compared with last year.
The bottom line: The 2024 is a sensible choice if you want the current model-year pricing and a decent chance of finding a deal. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing closely, but the 2024 gives you a good balance of availability and softened pricing.
