Used 2024 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2024 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 14.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 193 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2024 Land Rover Defender a good car?

Yes — 5/5 from users and 7.7/10 from our experts point to a strong overall package. The Defender is positioned as a rugged-yet-refined luxury SUV for buyers who want genuine off-road ability without giving up a more sophisticated feel, and the 2024 model adds more features plus wider availability for one of its V8 engines. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Technology.

The main trade-offs are that handling is more cumbersome than most luxury SUVs and fuel economy is below average. Even so, if you want capability, a distinctive presence, and a well-equipped cabin, the Defender fits that brief well.

With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2024 Land Rover Defender reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The Defender’s appeal is reinforced by its durable, adventure-ready character and its long history as a go-anywhere vehicle built for demanding conditions. Its standard equipment and refined cabin also suggest a vehicle designed to feel substantial over time.

The performance side points to a broad engine range and full-time active four-wheel drive, which supports confidence in varied conditions. The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that its premium running costs and complex hardware can make upkeep more demanding than on simpler SUVs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Land Rover Defender?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim gives you 19-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, partial leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic glass roof, a heated and power-adjustable steering wheel, remote keyless entry, satellite radio, HD radio, and a 10-speaker Meridian sound system. Higher trims add more style and equipment, while the Outbound removes the third row for more cargo space.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbocharged four-cylinder, a mild-hybrid turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, or supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engines. The lineup is aimed at buyers who want strong capability, with the more powerful engines adding more towing and performance headroom.
• Safety package: The Defender includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a 360-degree parking camera system. The lane-departure and lane-keeping assist intervention can feel too touchy.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel and an 11.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD radio, and a 10-speaker Meridian stereo system.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient configuration returns 12.9 L/100 km in the city, 10.8 on the highway, and 12.0 combined. The base four-cylinder in the 90 returns 13.1 L/100 km city, 11.4 highway, and 12.3 combined. Our 110 with the six-cylinder returns 13.8 city, 11.6 highway, and 12.8 combined. The least efficient version returns 16.4 city, 12.7 highway, and 14.7 combined.

Which 2024 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2024 Land Rover Defender is offered in 5 trim levels: S, X-Dynamic SE, X, V8, and Outbound.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Defender’s core luxury and utility without moving up the price ladder. You still get a panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the full suite of standard safety and convenience features.
• X-Dynamic SE: This trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels and distinctive exterior and interior styling touches, making it a good step up if you want more presence without jumping straight to the top end.
• X: This is the trim to target if you want more equipment and a more premium feel, thanks to 22-inch wheels, a digital rearview mirror camera, and partial Windsor leather upholstery.
• V8: Choose this if performance matters most, since it combines leather and microsuede upholstery with the most powerful engine options in the lineup.
• Outbound: This is the one to consider if you want the Defender 130’s extra cargo space and can live without the third row.

The Defender’s safety package is extensive across the lineup, but the lane-departure and lane-keeping assist intervention can feel overly sensitive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Land Rover Defender?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $70,274 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $70,333 CAD sits slightly below last year's $82,179 CAD.

That price drop suggests buyers have more negotiating room today than they did a year ago. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly. The Defender’s strong appeal should help support demand, but premium SUVs can still be sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Land Rover Defender safe?

The Defender comes with an extensive list of standard driver assistance features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Other standard safety tech includes traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a 360-degree parking camera system.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The lane-departure and lane-keeping assist intervention can feel too touchy, and that is the main safety-related caveat to keep in mind when you test-drive one.

Should I buy a 2024 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 adds a host of new features and expands availability for one of its V8 engines.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $60,947 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $70,333 CAD average.
• It offers classic Defender character with more customisation and body choices.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $85,024 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $70,333 CAD average.
• It broadens the lineup with more body styles and powertrain choices.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best all-around pick if you want updated features and strong capability without stepping into the higher-priced 2025. If price matters most, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
