Is the 2024 Kia Seltos a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Kia Seltos earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to a well-liked small crossover with broad appeal. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its features, comfort, handling, spaciousness, and safety options, and they also like the stylish design. The main trade-offs are that the base engine feels underpowered and the optional turbo engine can suffer from low-speed turbo-lag.

That mix fits the Seltos’ role as a practical, comfortable, and well-equipped small crossover with useful space and easy-to-use technology. With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have a decent chance of finding a competitive example.

Is the 2024 Kia Seltos reliable?

The expert assessment also supports that impression by highlighting the Seltos as a well-rounded, practical crossover with straightforward technology and strong value. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the cabin experience and more about making sure the specific example you choose has been maintained properly and suits your expectations for power.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Seltos?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, fog lights, heated front seats and side mirrors, manually adjustable front seats, two USB ports, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The EX adds solar glass, a sunroof, LED daytime running lights, keyless entry with push-button start, combination cloth-and-synthetic leather upholstery, and single-zone automatic climate control. The X-Line adds 18-inch alloy wheels with gloss black finish, a unique dark gunmetal grille design, black sport design roof rails, and other subtle styling tweaks.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-litre four-cylinder makes 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque and uses Kia’s IVT. It comes standard with FWD on the LX, with AWD optional there and available on the EX; AWD is standard from EX Premium. The SX and X-Line use a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired with a new eight-speed automatic and standard AWD.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist and lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning. EX Premium adds smart adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and navigation-based curve prediction. SX adds traffic sign recognition, highway driving assist, a junction-turning function for forward collision warning, and drive-away warning.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with a 4.2-inch digital instrument screen, while upper trims upgrade to a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Both tiers include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the system keeps physical volume and tuning dials plus hard climate buttons.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-litre engine with FWD returns 8.3 L/100 km city, 6.8 highway, and 7.6 combined. With AWD, it returns 8.8 L/100 km city, 7.5 highway, and 8.2 combined. The 1.6-litre turbo-four with AWD returns 9.4 city, 8.7 highway, and 9.1 combined.

Which 2024 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX Premium, SX, and X-Line.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you a strong equipment list plus the option to add AWD. If you want the lowest entry price and still want the Seltos’ core strengths, this is the trim to start with.
• EX: This trim adds a sunroof, keyless entry with push-button start, and upgraded upholstery, so it’s the better pick if you want a more polished daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• EX Premium: This is the best-value upgrade if you want the most meaningful comfort and tech gains, including the fully digital instrument cluster and wireless charging, plus added driver-assistance capability.
• SX: Choose this if you want the strongest feature set, including the Bose audio system, digital key, and the most advanced safety and convenience features in the lineup.
• X-Line: This is the style-led choice, with unique exterior treatment and the turbo powertrain, so it suits you if you want the top trim’s look and performance-oriented hardware.

The safety package expands as you move up the range, with EX Premium and SX bringing additional driver-assistance features beyond the standard suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Seltos?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 724 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.20% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,888 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $26,267 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,578 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you better buying leverage today, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy well now, you reduce the risk of overpaying before depreciation has fully settled.

The Seltos’ broad appeal helps support future demand because it combines practicality, comfort, and useful technology in a small crossover package. Strong owner satisfaction also tends to keep used interest healthy when it’s time for you to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2024 Kia Seltos earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance features include forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist and lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning. If you want more advanced assistance, you need to move up to EX Premium for smart adaptive cruise control, while SX adds traffic sign recognition, highway driving assist, a junction-turning function, and drive-away warning.

That means the standard safety package is already strong, but the more advanced highway and adaptive features are reserved for higher trims. For used buyers, that makes trim choice especially important if driver-assistance tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 brings refreshed styling and updated technology while keeping the Seltos’ practical, spacious formula intact.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this small crossover’s formula, the 2024 is the one to target because it adds updated tech and styling without changing the Seltos’ core strengths. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a lower-priced nearby year can still make sense, but the 2024 is the better pick when you want the refreshed look and the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, safety, and value.
