CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda Pilot
Summary
With 188 currently listed for sale and an average price of $49,224 CAD, 23.9% of 2024 Honda Pilot listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda Pilot 4.4 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda Pilot stands out as a roomy, safety-focused three-row SUV with a long-standing reputation for practicality. It offers more third-row legroom and headroom than competitors such as the Ford Explorer, the Toyota Highlander, and the Kia Telluride, and it can seat up to eight passengers. Honda’s conservative approach to design also helps the Pilot avoid looking dated, which adds to its appeal as a used vehicle.
For 2024, the Pilot’s strengths are especially clear in its equipment and everyday usability. It comes with Honda’s i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system in Canada, along with drive modes for normal, ECON, snow, tow, sport, trail, and sand. The cabin also includes Honda’s “magic” second-row seats, which let the middle seat be removed and stored under the rear cargo floor. Technology is well covered too, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the available infotainment and audio upgrades help the Pilot feel modern and easy to live with.
There are some trade-offs. The Pilot lags behind some rivals in infotainment and fit and finish, and its fuel economy is described as average. Still, for buyers who want a dependable family SUV with strong safety content, generous passenger space, and a broad spread of useful features, the 2024 Honda Pilot remains a compelling choice.

It has everything I was looking for in an SUV and I saved a ton of money due to Honda not selling over MSRP. I looked at the Lexus SUV that is similar and the Pilot hands down is better and 20k cheaper.

This vehicle was a great choice for me as it provides the room and flexibility, I am looking for with downsizing from a full-size crew cab pickup.

Would have given it 5 stars but when I find after the fact that I spend 50k+ for a car that has a tow hitch but Honda can’t put in a wiring harness for it and I have to spend more money on that is disappointing, I test drove other vehicles that came with the harness and where cheaper. Gets me wondering what else did they go cheaper on. I enjoy it so far the car is great so far but that is just a thorn in my side.

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $49,179 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $49,179 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $56,009 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $56,010 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.19% |

There are 188 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Honda Pilot a good car?
Generally — the 2024 Honda Pilot earns 4.4/5, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spaciousness, its ability to comfortably fit eight passengers, and the value it offers versus some pricier rivals. It also stands out as a practical family SUV with useful features and a layout that suits everyday use. With 26.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Honda Pilot reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, especially those who want a long-term family SUV they can count on. The strongest praise centres on practicality and everyday usability, while some owners noted concerns about performance and a few missing items. For used buyers, that means the main long-term risk is less about broad reliability and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly and equipped as expected.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda Pilot?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 188 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.19% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $49,179 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda Pilot's resale value?
The current average of $49,179 CAD sits slightly below last year's $56,010 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Pilot has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help support demand in the near term. For a future seller, the softer market means you may not see the same pricing strength that was present a year ago. Even so, the model’s broad appeal and family-friendly reputation should help it remain easy to market when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.19% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $48,244 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $49,179 CAD average.
- It brings a newly redesigned, more rugged look with added power and convenience.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $55,281 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $49,179 CAD average.
- It keeps the formula simple with standard AWD and a straightforward, practical setup.
The bottom line: The 2024 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-liked, family-friendly Pilot at a softer price than newer stock. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense only if you want the newer model-year packaging and are comfortable paying more.
