CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda HR-V
Summary
With 161 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,047 CAD, 23.6% of 2024 Honda HR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda HR-V 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda HR-V stands out as a practical subcompact SUV that blends everyday usability with a more polished feel than its predecessor. It offers a higher driving position and a large cargo area, while still feeling compact and easy to handle from behind the wheel. For this generation, Honda also moved to a more refined and modern design inside and out, along with higher-quality interior materials and improved handling. Buyers looking for a small SUV that feels sensible rather than flashy will find that combination appealing.
The 2024 model is powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder i-VTEC engine with 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a continuously variable transmission, and both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available. Standard equipment includes hill descent control, while the infotainment system adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Honda Sensing is also part of the package, bringing adaptive cruise control with a low-speed follow function, and 10 airbags are standard across the range.
There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The engine is described as less powerful than some competitors and not particularly fuel efficient, and it needs to be worked hard at higher speeds, especially with passengers on board. Even so, the 2024 Honda HR-V remains attractive because it pairs strong ride comfort, useful technology, and a reputation for reliability with a cabin that is more versatile and better finished than before.

How much does the 2024 Honda HR-V cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $29,634 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $29,634 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $33,267 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,272 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.94% |
Prices have softened 10.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 345 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing options.
Is the 2024 Honda HR-V a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Honda HR-V earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, and impressive features for the price, while also liking its stylish design and safety features. That fits well if you want a practical subcompact SUV with a higher driving position, a large cargo area, and a sensible, easy-to-live-with character rather than something flashy. With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2024 Honda HR-V reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centred on comfort and everyday usability. That kind of response suggests the HR-V is the sort of vehicle you can count on for regular commuting and family duties.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about reliability and more about whether the slower acceleration suits your needs over time.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda HR-V?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 345 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.94% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $29,634 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda HR-V's resale value?
The current average of $29,634 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,272 CAD.
That softer pricing can be a good entry point for you now, but it also means a future seller may face more competition if market conditions stay similar. The current range suggests the HR-V is holding value reasonably well, though not aggressively. If you buy at the right price today, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.94% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
