CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda HR-V
Summary
With 141 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,084 CAD, 19.1% of 2024 Honda HR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda HR-V 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda HR-V stands out as a practical small crossover that leans into comfort, everyday usability, and value. It has a more refined and modern look inside and out, a larger body, and improved handling over the first-generation model thanks to its Civic-based mechanical underpinnings. The cabin uses higher quality materials than before, and the ride comfort is very good, which helps make it appealing for commuting and general family use.
It also brings a useful mix of standard equipment and flexibility. The updated infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across the range, while Honda Sensing bundles more advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control with a low-speed follow function. Cargo space is generous at 691 litres behind the rear seats and 1,559 litres with them folded, although this generation loses the Magic Seat system that made the earlier HR-V especially versatile. Buyers should also note that the 2.0-litre engine’s 158 horsepower is not especially strong, and it needs to be worked hard at higher speeds, so the HR-V’s strengths are more about refinement and practicality than brisk performance.

How much does the 2024 Honda HR-V cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $29,712 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $29,581 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $32,699 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $32,699 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.13% |
Prices have softened 9.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 355 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Honda HR-V a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Honda HR-V earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, and impressive features for the price, while also liking its stylish design and fuel efficiency. For you, that makes it a sensible fit if you want a practical small crossover for commuting and general family use rather than a vehicle focused on brisk performance. 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Honda HR-V reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with comments that suggest people feel confident counting on it day to day. That said, some owners mention that acceleration could be more responsive, so the main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is more about performance expectations than durability concerns.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda HR-V?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 355 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.13% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $29,581 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda HR-V's resale value?
The current average of $29,712 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,699 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale values may be shaped by how much the market has already adjusted. If prices stabilise, a used HR-V bought near the current average could hold up reasonably well because the model still has broad appeal among practical crossover shoppers. Strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand when it comes time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
