CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda CR-V
Summary
With 955 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,536 CAD, 29.3% of 2024 Honda CR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda CR-V 3.75 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda CR-V stands out because it combines the CR-V’s long-running reputation for practicality with a more polished, more distinctive modern design. Honda comprehensively redesigned it for 2023, giving it a more handsome shape and a bigger interior, while keeping the model’s emphasis on efficiency and everyday usability. It remains a five-passenger compact crossover with the roomy cabin and cargo area that have long been part of the CR-V’s appeal, and it continues to be known for reliability, safety, and economy.
For 2024, the CR-V’s standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and it earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS in 2024. The infotainment system is described as basic, but top trims get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the CR-V is still easy to learn to operate. The hybrid version is especially notable, with a drivetrain rated at 204 system horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque and capable of burning as little as 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, while the gas-powered version uses a 190-horsepower 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo engine.
As a used buy, the 2024 Honda CR-V is appealing because it is still very new and offers a lot of equipment, but it is not the cheapest compact SUV on the market. The source notes that Canadian pricing for new CR-Vs is among the highest in the segment, and that used examples can still be expensive, especially hybrids. It is also not the most spirited driver or the most distinctive in style, so buyers prioritising excitement may want to look elsewhere, but those wanting a practical, well-equipped, and highly regarded crossover will find plenty to like.

Nice smooth drivetrain and comfortable ride. Roomy. LX trim has good basics. Some things I felt were missing: - Stiff suspension - can strongly feel potholes and bumps on the road - No wireless CarPlay/Android auto - need a cable pipe in the phone - Just one USB charging port - seems low even for a modern base model. No ports for back seats at all, not even a rear 12V. - No blindspot alert system - feels somewhat scary if you're coming from a car that had one.

How much does the 2024 Honda CR-V cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $34,501 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $34,501 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $39,006 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $39,006 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.55% |
Prices have softened 11.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 964 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Honda CR-V a good car?
The 2024 Honda CR-V is a strong fit if you want a practical, well-equipped compact crossover with a roomy cabin and cargo area, plus a focus on efficiency and everyday usability. Its 3.75/5 user rating points to a mixed but still respectable ownership impression, and the model’s polished redesign, easy-to-learn controls, and available hybrid efficiency make it especially appealing for commuting and family use. If you value comfort, space, and a straightforward ownership experience more than excitement, it makes a solid case for itself. 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Honda CR-V reliable?
The 2024 Honda CR-V is described as continuing the model’s long-running reputation for reliability, alongside strong safety and economy credentials. It also comes with standard safety equipment such as adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and it earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS in 2024. For used buyers, that combination of reputation, safety equipment, and efficiency makes it a reassuring choice, though long-term ownership risk still depends on how well the specific vehicle was maintained.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda CR-V?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 964 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.55% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $34,501 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda CR-V's resale value?
The current average of $34,501 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,006 CAD.
That price movement suggests the 2024 CR-V has already absorbed some early depreciation, which can help future resale stability if demand stays healthy. Because it is still a relatively new model with broad appeal, you may see better retention than with less popular compact SUVs. Even so, the current downward trend means a future seller should expect market pricing to remain competitive rather than premium.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.55% compared with last year.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,536 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,501 CAD average.
- The 2023 adds a redesigned cabin with more space and updated tech.
The 2024 is the better pick if you want the newer model-year pricing trend and a still-fresh used example with strong practicality. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the smarter value play because it delivers much of the same core CR-V appeal for less.
