CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda CR-V
Summary
With 345 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,053 CAD, 18.3% of 2024 Honda CR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda CR-V 3.8 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda CR-V stands out as a compact crossover that leans hard into practicality, safety, and everyday ease of use. Honda’s latest redesign gives it a more handsome shape, while the cabin is bigger than before, with 1,042 millimetres of rear legroom and up to 1,113 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats. With the seats folded, cargo capacity rises to 2,166 litres, and Honda says both versions sit near the top of the class for space. That makes the 2024 CR-V especially appealing to buyers who want a roomy, versatile vehicle without moving up to a larger SUV.
It also offers a strong mix of powertrain choices and efficiency. The gas model uses a 190-horsepower 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, while the hybrid top trims are hybrid-only and produce 204 system horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. Honda says the hybrid drivetrain can use as little as 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined. Standard safety equipment remains a major draw, including adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and the CR-V earned an IIHS “Top Safety Pick+” designation in 2023 and “Top Safety Pick” in 2024.
There are a few trade-offs. The infotainment system is described as basic, and the CR-V is still easy to learn to operate rather than especially exciting. It is also among the pricier compact SUVs in Canada, with used examples still starting at relatively high prices. Even so, for shoppers who value reliability, safety, and a well-rounded package, the 2024 Honda CR-V remains one of the most convincing choices in its class.

Nice smooth drivetrain and comfortable ride. Roomy. LX trim has good basics. Some things I felt were missing: - Stiff suspension - can strongly feel potholes and bumps on the road - No wireless CarPlay/Android auto - need a cable pipe in the phone - Just one USB charging port - seems low even for a modern base model. No ports for back seats at all, not even a rear 12V. - No blindspot alert system - feels somewhat scary if you're coming from a car that had one.

Everything was great but the price. They wanted way too much for a car that has one accident.

Is the 2024 Honda CR-V a good car?
With a user rating of 3.8/5, the 2024 Honda CR-V looks like a strong fit if you want a compact crossover that prioritises practicality, safety, and everyday ease of use. The cabin is bigger than before, with 1,042 millimetres of rear legroom and up to 1,113 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, so it suits families and shoppers who value space without stepping up to a larger SUV. It also keeps things straightforward rather than flashy, which can be a plus if you want a vehicle that is easy to live with. The market shows 35.1% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Honda CR-V reliable?
The 2024 Honda CR-V is presented as a practical, safety-focused crossover with a reputation for reliability, economy, and everyday usability. Honda’s standard safety equipment and the model’s broad appeal reinforce that it is built to be a low-drama ownership choice, especially if you want a vehicle that is easy to operate and well suited to daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying a premium up front for a vehicle that may still hold its value well.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda CR-V?
This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.
- Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 992 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.74% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $33,872 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda CR-V's resale value?
The current average of $33,872 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,946 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the CR-V easier to buy now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, it also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy at today’s average. Even so, the CR-V’s practical reputation and broad appeal should help it remain relatively marketable compared with less in-demand compact SUVs.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.74% compared with last year.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,178 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $33,872 CAD average.
- It offers a roomy, comfortable, easy-to-live-with package.
The bottom line: The 2024 is the better pick if you want the newer model-year pricing context and a broad selection of listings to compare. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter value play because it delivers much of the same practical appeal for less money.
