Is the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid earns 4.43/5 from owners and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, excellent ride quality, and fuel efficiency, and many also like the tech features and the value versus the gas-only version. The main trade-offs are its high price, the lack of conversational voice recognition, and some complaints about paying over MSRP.

For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a roomy, practical, safety-focused compact crossover rather than something sporty or especially exciting. With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is at least some opportunity to find a competitive example.

Is the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort and the kind of everyday usability that makes a vehicle easy to count on. The expert assessment also reinforces that it feels well put together and easy to live with.

Honda’s maintenance and durability reputation is helped here by the hybrid’s generally polished operation and the model’s strong owner satisfaction. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying too much for a vehicle whose fuel savings may not fully offset its premium.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX-L Hybrid brings the electrified powertrain to a lower starting point, while the Touring Hybrid adds a more upscale cabin with leather seats, orange contrast stitching, navigation, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. The Touring also gets low-speed automatic braking control, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a fourth-generation Honda two-motor system with an Atkinson-cycle 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, delivering 204 horsepower to all four wheels. It is smooth and transparent in normal driving, but you may notice low-speed electric warning noise and engine droning on hills.
• Safety package: Every Hybrid has Honda Sensing, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, a rear seat reminder, automatic high beams, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the Hybrid trims, and both hybrids add front and rear parking sensors.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging. Touring trim adds navigation and the Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 6.4 L/100 km combined, but the test vehicle returned 8.7 L/100 km on a mountainous loop.

Which 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid is offered in 2 trim levels: EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• EX-L Hybrid: This is the best-value choice if you want the hybrid powertrain without stretching to the top trim. It gives you the standard hybrid setup, all-wheel drive, and the core comfort and safety equipment that make the CR-V Hybrid appealing in the first place.
• Touring Hybrid: Choose this if you want the most complete version, with leather seats, navigation, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and low-speed automatic braking control. It suits you best if you want the most upscale CR-V Hybrid and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is strong across the Hybrid lineup, with Honda Sensing standard and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-traffic alert included on the Hybrid trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 543 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.31% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,568 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $39,568 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,117 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently today, but it also means future resale values may be shaped by a market that has already adjusted downward. If prices stabilise, sellers could benefit from the CR-V Hybrid’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction. If inventory stays healthy, though, you may need to price competitively to move a used example.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid safe?

The 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid earns a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS, though it does not achieve the higher Top Safety Pick+ result because of its poor rating in the updated moderate overlap front test.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, a rear seat reminder, automatic high beams, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the Hybrid trims, while front and rear parking sensors are also included. Low-speed automatic braking control is reserved for the Touring trim.

That makes the CR-V Hybrid a strong safety pick overall, but you should keep the IIHS moderate-overlap result in mind if crash-test performance is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• This year adds the EX-L Hybrid, which lowers the entry point for the hybrid powertrain in Canada.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,564 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $39,568 CAD average.
• It introduced the CR-V Hybrid to Canada with a single Hybrid Touring trim.

The bottom line: If you want the broader trim choice and a lower entry point into the hybrid lineup, the 2024 is the better all-round pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you are comfortable with the earlier single-trim setup, the 2023 is the more budget-friendly route.
