Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Mustang earns 4.8/5 from owners and 7.2/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.

The trade-offs are familiar Mustang compromises: a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, plus a noisy character that can wear on you in everyday use. Even so, the car’s appeal is strongest if you want a fun, nostalgic performance car that still delivers strong value for money.

With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market offers a decent number of attractive opportunities.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about basic durability and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained properly and checked carefully for any issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin gets a much more modern look, with a glass panel enclosing the digital instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen, while materials quality is improved with fewer hard plastic surfaces. Base models use two separate screens, while Premium models place them in a single enclosure.
• Powertrain: The entry engine is a 2.3-litre turbo four-cylinder with 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. GT models use a 5.0-litre V8 with 480 hp and a standard six-speed manual, with a 10-speed automatic available.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available.
• Infotainment: All 2024 Mustangs come with a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Sync 4 system is easy to use, though responses can be slow.
• Fuel efficiency: The EcoBoost is rated at 10.8 L/100 km city, 7.1 highway, and 9.2 combined. With the Performance Pack, it rises to 11.1/8.2/9.8. The GT automatic is rated at 15.8/9.8/13.1, while the manual is rated at 16.6/10.2/13.8.

Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the value play if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest entry point. You still get the 315-hp turbo four-cylinder, rear-wheel drive, and the full modern tech suite, so it covers the essentials well.
• EcoBoost Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the upgraded cabin presentation and more upscale feel without jumping to V8 pricing. It suits you if interior polish matters as much as the driving experience.
• GT: This is the choice if you want the more complete muscle-car character. The V8, standard manual transmission, and stronger performance make it the enthusiast’s pick.
• GT Premium: This is the trim to choose if you want the V8 experience with the more refined interior treatment and the most upscale version of the Mustang’s cabin.

Standard safety features are generous across the lineup, while adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers: there are enough listings to compare, but the best-priced examples can still move quickly.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 216 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $49,068 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $53,699 CAD sits slightly above last year's $53,243 CAD.

That small increase suggests the Mustang has held its value well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to steady buyer interest and a market that is not being flooded by discounting.

The model’s strong enthusiast appeal, updated technology, and broad recognition should continue to support demand. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organised, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is not yet rated by NHTSA or IIHS, but the previous generation on which this model is based received five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS for all tests except the driver-side small overlap test, where it scored Acceptable.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are optional.

The main caveat is that the Mustang’s safety story depends heavily on its predecessor’s results, since current crash-test ratings are not yet available.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a major interior and technology upgrade while keeping the Mustang’s familiar performance-first character.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of the Mustang’s seventh-generation formula, the 2024 is the one to target because it combines strong owner satisfaction, stable pricing, and meaningful cabin and tech improvements. If you are shopping mainly on price, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2024 is the better choice if you want the most up-to-date interior and the broadest appeal.
