The expert review also describes the F-150 as a capable, well-rounded pickup with a broad range of configurations and proven utility. What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is pretty spartan, while higher trims add more comfort and luxury touches. You also get a wide spread of cab styles, bed lengths, and drivetrain choices, so make sure the truck you’re looking at matches your needs rather than just the sticker price.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, while the PowerBoost Hybrid is available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. The Tremor uses a 5.0-litre V8, and the Raptor R gets a 5.2-litre supercharged V8.
• Safety package: Every F-150 comes with Ford CoPilot 360, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and cross traffic alert. A 360-degree camera is recommended on higher trims, and BlueCruise is available on Tremor and above.
• Infotainment: All trucks get a 12-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, satellite radio, a 5G LTE hotspot, and a 12-inch digital gauge cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: The PowerBoost Hybrid is rated at 11.4 L/100 km in the city, 10.1 on the highway, and 10.8 combined. The Raptor R is rated at 19.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford F-150 is offered in 8 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor, Raptor, and Raptor R.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up the range.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it opens the door to more equipment and is also one of the trims where the hybrid powertrain is available.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a stronger mix of comfort and technology, plus access to the hybrid powertrain and some of the nicer interior updates.
• King Ranch: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with heated and ventilated front leather seats, heated rear seats, wood trim, and ambient lighting.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want a more upscale F-150 with the hybrid powertrain available and a more premium overall feel.
• Tremor: This is the off-road-focused option, with a 5.0-litre V8, 33-inch tires, a lift, off-road-tuned suspension, and trail-driving hardware.
• Raptor: This is the high-performance off-road model for buyers who want serious capability and more extreme hardware.
• Raptor R: This is the most extreme version, with a supercharged V8 and the most aggressive off-road setup in the range.

For safety, every F-150 gets Ford CoPilot 360, but BlueCruise is only available on Tremor and higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what trim and equipment you want.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,779 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $55,903 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $55,903 CAD sits slightly below last year's $63,469 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more heavily on trim, condition, and equipment than on the model name alone.

Because the year-round range still reaches $63,492 CAD, better-equipped or better-kept examples can hold meaningful value. If you buy carefully now, you may have a better chance of recovering more of your purchase price later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2024 Ford F-150 earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, with five-star side-crash and frontal-crash ratings and four-star rollover ratings. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2024 F-150 SuperCrew a Good rating in driver- and passenger-side crashworthiness, while front-crash testing received a Poor rating for possible injuries to rear-seat passengers.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 F-150 comes with Ford CoPilot 360, which includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and cross traffic alert. You can also add Exit Warning, and a 360-degree camera is recommended on higher trims because the truck is large and visibility matters.

BlueCruise is available on Tremor and higher trims, and for 2024 it adds lane-change assist and lane-repositioning. The main caveat is that some advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to move up the trim ladder to get the full suite you want.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds updated BlueCruise and thoughtful interior and tech improvements.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $50,643 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $55,903 CAD average.
• It expands the lineup with the debut of the Raptor R and the XLT Heritage Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $62,099 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $55,903 CAD average.
• It broadens choice with more driver-assistance systems and a new Platinum Plus package.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, updated tech, and broad capability, the 2024 is the smart default. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2023 can save you money, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newest features and broader configuration choices.
