Used 2023 Volvo XC60 for Sale nearEtobicoke, ON

How much does the 2023 Volvo XC60 cost?

Prices have softened 17.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 292 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Volvo XC60 a good car?

It’s a compelling choice if you want a luxury SUV that blends electrified driving, style, and safety, though you should weigh its compromises carefully. The user rating is 3/5, and the expert rating is 8/10.

The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Its appeal starts with the plug-in hybrid formula: you get electric-only commuting for short trips, plus a gasoline engine for longer drives without range anxiety. The XC60 also stands out for its stylish design and impressive technology, which makes it feel sophisticated and modern in daily use.

The trade-offs are real, though. Acceleration and braking can be abrupt rather than smooth, rear-seat legroom is tight, and the value proposition is questionable for the money.

With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Volvo XC60 reliable?

The 2023 Volvo XC60 is built around a powertrain and cabin experience that aim to make electrified ownership feel approachable rather than complicated. The plug-in hybrid setup is designed to let you drive on electricity for short trips while keeping a gasoline engine in reserve for longer journeys.

The expert evaluation also points to a refined, well-developed package after the mid-2022 powertrain update, with the refreshed PHEV system delivering stronger performance than before. The performance notes also highlight that the rear motor adds a torque-vectoring effect in Hybrid mode, which contributes to the SUV’s drivability.

For cost-conscious ownership, the plug-in hybrid format can work well if you plug in regularly and use Pure mode for daily commuting. Long-term used-buyer risk is mainly tied to the complexity of the PHEV system and the possibility that neglected charging habits could reduce the ownership payoff.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volvo XC60?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Core, Plus, Ultimate, and PHEV-only Polestar Engineered are the trim levels named for this model year. The Ultimate trim brings the fullest equipment set, including the most complete safety feature list, while the lower trims are more likely to leave you without some of the premium touches and driver-assistance content you may want.
• Powertrain: The Recharge PHEV uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder gas engine, a rear electric motor, and an 18.8-kWh battery pack. It is rated for an estimated 58 kilometres of electric driving range and produces 455 horsepower and 423 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist is the named driver-assistance suite, combining adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and lane-centring capability on the highway. Oncoming Lane Mitigation is also included. The full safety feature set is tied to the Ultimate trim.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch portrait-style touchscreen, a 12-inch digital instrumentation panel, wireless-style Google Built-in functionality with four years of complimentary access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play, plus Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Wi-Fi access.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation recorded 4.3 L/100 km over a 105-kilometre route, and 11.9 L/100 km on a highway-heavy trip while using Charge mode.

Which 2023 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volvo XC60 is offered in 4 trim levels: Core trim, Plus trim, Ultimate trim, and PHEV-only Polestar Engineered trim.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC60’s basic luxury-SUV appeal and plug-in hybrid concept without stretching to the top of the range. It makes sense if you value the design and electrified drivetrain first, but you’ll be giving up some of the richer equipment and safety content found higher up.
• Plus: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and price. It should give you more of the XC60’s premium feel without pushing you into the most expensive versions, making it the best-value choice for many used buyers.
• Ultimate: This is the one to buy if you want the most complete XC60 experience. It brings the full safety feature set, the strongest luxury presentation, and the richest cabin ambience, so it suits you best if you want the most polished version of the model.
• Polestar Engineered: This is the enthusiast-oriented PHEV trim. If you want the most performance-focused XC60 in the lineup, this is the version to consider, but it is the least likely to make sense if your priority is value.

The Ultimate trim is the one tied to the full safety feature set, including Pilot Assist and Oncoming Lane Mitigation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volvo XC60?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 292 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.73% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,826 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $40,826 CAD sits slightly below last year's $49,623 CAD.

That price movement suggests the XC60 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand stay healthy in the near term. For a future seller, it means you may need to price competitively if you want your listing to stand out. The current market also shows a fairly wide year-round range, so condition, trim, and equipment will matter a lot when you go to resell.

Is the 2023 Volvo XC60 safe?

The 2023 Volvo XC60 B5 and B6 earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, and the XC60 B5 and B6 mild-hybrids earn top marks across the board from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Pilot Assist is Volvo’s most advanced driver-assistance system, combining adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and lane-centring capability on the highway. Oncoming Lane Mitigation is also included to help reduce the risk of collisions with oncoming traffic.

One important caveat is that the PHEV version was not assessed by NHTSA, so the published crash-test language applies to the XC60 B5 and B6 mild-hybrids rather than the Recharge model specifically.

Should I buy a 2023 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.73% compared with last year.
• The mid-2022 powertrain update made the Recharge more powerful and more appealing as a plug-in hybrid luxury SUV.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,206 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $40,826 CAD average.
• It offers a refreshed lineup with new powertrains and updated infotainment.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the stronger updated plug-in hybrid experience and are shopping for the best mix of efficiency, safety, and luxury. Consider the 2022 if your priority is saving money up front and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2023 model year’s market positioning.
