Used 2023 Volvo XC60 for Sale near British Columbia

How much does the 2023 Volvo XC60 cost?

Prices have softened 18.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 242 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Volvo XC60 a good car?

The 2023 Volvo XC60 is a compelling choice if you want a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV that balances electric commuting with gasoline backup, though it comes with some compromises. It earns a 3/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating.

The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Its stylish design and impressive technology help it feel modern and upscale, and its great safety ratings add to its appeal. The plug-in hybrid setup is especially useful if you want to try nightly charging and electric-only driving without giving up long-trip flexibility.

The trade-offs are clear: acceleration and braking can be abrupt, rear-seat legroom is tight, and value for the money is questionable.

Only 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than especially bargain-heavy.

Is the 2023 Volvo XC60 reliable?

The 2023 Volvo XC60 builds on a long-running platform that has improved over time, and the plug-in hybrid powertrain is presented as a refined blend of style, performance, and efficiency. The expert evaluation also notes that the latest version is a revelation for how it combines those traits.

The performance assessment says the refreshed PHEV powertrain became the most powerful in Volvo’s history, and the updated electric motor adds noticeable capability. That said, the same evaluation also points to some abrupt behaviour in the powertrain and braking, which matters if you want a smoother daily drive.

For cost-conscious ownership, the expert commentary suggests an XC60 Recharge lease can be a good way to test EV-style driving before committing fully. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium plug-in hybrid can be expensive to own if you need repairs or high-cost maintenance outside warranty coverage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volvo XC60?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Ultimate trim brings the most complete equipment set, including the cabin upgrades and the full safety feature suite, while the test vehicle’s upscale materials and features show how much the higher trims add over the lower ones.
• Powertrain: The Recharge plug-in hybrid pairs a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder gas engine with a rear electric motor and an 18.8-kWh battery pack, with an estimated 58 km of electric driving range.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist is Volvo’s most advanced driver-assistance system, combining adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and lane-centring capability on the highway. Oncoming Lane Mitigation is also included.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch portrait-style touchscreen, a 12-inch digital instrumentation panel, wireless-style Google Built-in functionality with four years of complimentary Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play access, plus Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Wi-Fi access.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation recorded 4.3 L/100 km over a 105-km route, and 11.9 L/100 km in Charge mode on an 80-km highway trip.

Which 2023 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volvo XC60 is offered in 4 trim levels: Core trim, Plus trim, Ultimate trim, and Polestar Engineered trim.

Here's the short version:

• Core trim: This is the entry point if you want the XC60’s basic luxury, safety, and plug-in hybrid appeal without stretching to the pricier versions.
• Plus trim: This is the better-value step-up if you want more equipment than Core without jumping straight to the top end.
• Ultimate trim: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete XC60 experience, including the richest cabin presentation and the full safety feature set.
• Polestar Engineered trim: Choose this only if you want the most performance-focused version in the lineup.

The safety package note is simple: the Ultimate trim is the one described as having all of the XC60’s available safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volvo XC60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 242 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.51% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,591 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $39,591 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,585 CAD.

That drop suggests the XC60 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. If you buy at today’s average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who bought when prices were higher. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, especially because premium plug-in hybrid SUVs can vary widely in desirability.

Is the 2023 Volvo XC60 safe?

The 2023 Volvo XC60 B5 and B6 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, and the XC60 B5 and B6 mild-hybrids earn top marks across the board from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Pilot Assist is Volvo’s most advanced driver-assistance system, and it combines adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and lane-centring capability on the highway. Oncoming Lane Mitigation is also included to help reduce the risk of certain head-on or left-turn collisions.

The main caveat is that the PHEV version itself has not been assessed by NHTSA, so the published crash-test praise applies to the mild-hybrid versions rather than the Recharge specifically.

Should I buy a 2023 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.51% compared with last year.
• The refreshed plug-in hybrid setup gives you a practical way to try electric-only driving without giving up gasoline range.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,334 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,591 CAD average.
• It brings notable updates, including new mild-hybrid powertrains and the Android-based infotainment system.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the stronger plug-in hybrid experience and are comfortable paying more for the updated setup. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the smarter value play and still gives you a well-updated XC60.
